Some of the scale on that Concordia seems off...

990 meters, which is less than 10m off the original. To more accurately simulate Wing Commander however, I set up $Length Unit Multiplier: 6.4 in hud.tbl, which means that indicated target distances are 6.4 times the actual distance.

Also, you must have missed Raven2001's "penis fighters", because they got a lot more controversy than this, and they were years and years ago.

I haven't. And it wasn't the only one model for which people said "it looked like a penis." I have to check it, but I remember as if posting similar comments have become bannable offenses since then.

I don't understand the appeal of seriously overdone bloom. It looks fugly to me.

In normal time and in most games, I hate oversaturated bloom. But for space shooter especially Freespace 2 SCP, I don't know, I have the feeling that is just great. Ok, I overdone the value (I put 180 as a value for the bloom). Since the engine doesn't have a properly lightning/shadows effect, I have to compensate with bloom effect. I didn't try to lower the value yet since this value was for The End Project for testing purpose.

The mission comes from JCDenton (Hellgate mission if I didn't misspell it). I get 15-20 fps on my High-End PC (Core i7 930, GeForce GTX 480, 4 GB DDR3 1600 Mhz, Windows Seven Ultimate 64 bit, Asus P6T).
