Also, it's coming from a Mjolnir, which is not that big.

All you can see in #2 is the beam.. looks kinda bad suppose it might work for those people who don't like seeing ships (IE; play in pitch black lighting)

Because it's a Mjolnir, and I was testing the BFBlue. I intend to use that mission to test all the different beams. I really didn't want the viewer to notice the Mjolnir anyway, I wanted to show the beam itself.

THIS is how a Mjolnir's beam should look!

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Are we getting the Hades soon considering it's appearing a little more frequently in screens?

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Pick an effect:

Beam glow #1

Bean glow #2

For the record, #2 was created by me for ASW 3.6.12. Turns out a lot of people forget to credit me for effects coming out of 3.6.12. No offense, though -- I'm happy people are using them.

Feel free to use it, Betrayal, but please DO give credit as it is due.

Boo, small beams.
[16:57] <CommanderDJ> What prompted the decision to split WiH into acts?
[16:58] <battuta> it was long, we wanted to release something

How do you manage to LIKE that? D:
It looks just so... small and underwelming... If i didn't knew better, i would think it's a green AAA beam.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
AAA beams are oversized anyway and I've asked Hades to take a look at them a few times. I think the better question is why you like beams that are bigger than what's firing said beam, it's ridiculous and not in the good way.

Well, it's a matter of taste and I'm just glade sanity seems to win so far.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
mura: I could ask you the same question. Those blue beams are IIRC around the size of the Mjolnir beam, which means it's obscuring the Mjolnir almost completely. How is a beam literally bigger than its originating ship and still not retarded?

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Hades' pic actually does look much better, although I can see reasons for the Mjolnir's beam being quite large.  I don't think it looks very good that way though, up close at least.  I think in mission you might not be looking as closely at the Mjolnir as trying to help it blow up whatever it is shooting.

I have made every AAA beam much smaller, still need to upload to the SVN.

You guys are using the beam width table entries to ensure that the practical width of the beams remains identical right?
