Blasted Aesthetics -Help on Model Design-
Righto... when I spent many weeks working on this model with no reliable reference I found out something rather dream crushing of sorts. I figured I'd ask ya if you wouldn't mind seeing such a thing.

Now here's the profile view of my new baby in progress and all:

Not bad yes? I like it too.

A rear view

So many engines, I'd love to feel the engine wash from those things.

And finally the ugly duckling....

The blasted turrets makes this view look awful to me. That huge gap between the engines and turrets just feels terribly awkward and empty, a bad sillouette. Dang it had I known this would have happened I would have fixed it long ago but now I am not too sure what to do with it. There isn't any other good place to put it in the mesh! So I've come asking if you all have the same feeling I do or are you all think I am just seeing things? I'd like some feedback on this issue... though I would HATE to have to remake this model just because of turret positioning.
I have created a masterpiece.

I think I see what you mean about the turrets and the engines, but personally, I think it looks fine. If you want to minimise the turret platform's interruption of the ship's lines, you could try slanting/skewing the turret platform outcropping back towards the rear of the ship to emphasise the ship's "arrowhead" shape.

Re: Blasted Aesthetics -Help on Model Design-
I actually like the gap between the two 'segments'. It gives the ship a lighter, sleeker look rather than the bulky look most FS ships have. The turret mounts are separated from the engine segments anyway, so there's no logical reason to connect them.

I want so badly to blow that ship up :P

I think it's a radically different design, and awesome at the same time.

It looks impressive, when can we expect a release?  :)
Also, what happened to that fighter you were once working on?
It was a true work of art and looked finished to me.

Re: Blasted Aesthetics -Help on Model Design-
With regards to the fighter, the new UV map is done and I did a normal map test. Works perfectly except for the underbelly but hey, its not that important. As for any release, I will be frank that I have no idea. I have other distractions demanding me do other things all the time, and trust me... those 'distractions' have no appreciation to just how frakking long this stuff takes to make and make good.

And thanks for your input. I feel a bit better now about this design.
I have created a masterpiece.

Re: Blasted Aesthetics -Help on Model Design-
Nice ship! I do like the gap between the turrets and the engine, as well. Makes it look more nimble. I also agree that the top view is the weakest of the shots you offered us.

My suggestion would be to integrate the turrets with the front end of the ship. I could be done with an extra set of turrets or extenstions, to make an extra step into the arrowhead. You could also extend a diagonal plate leading into the front of the model. I've drawn the latter as an example, though the step-down extension might be better...
