actually hacking ANYTHING is bad... in my opinion.

this is a very, VERY good day for me.  i'm going to go home, take it easy, discuss the webiste with Inquisitor and kasper1, and then go see a movie, eat, and go to bed.  today is special

So if i make a program and try to hack it, its bad? Or if im a Security consultant hacking the company to find loopholes that crackers can exploit, its bad?

if you make a program and try to hack, then yes... it is bad

if you're a security consultant hacking the company to find loopholes then you're not a hacker, you're a security consultant looking for loopholes

I still dont get how making a program(one that you,ve made) and trying to hack it is bad, its called improving your progamming skills by learning to make programs that are secure . Also security consultants are hackers, cos they "hack".

1)  make a program and try to hack the program that you have made is not bad.  i thought you said make a program and hack WITH it... THAT is bad

Personally, I don't care what he did. He was a troll, but it'd be hypocritical of me to say bad things in that respect. The only manner, way or form in which I dislike him is that he was dumb enough to get caught. Everything else is inconsequential to me and thus I don't care.

Also, Stealth and Zeronet: Use correct terminology or I'll hurt you.

And being good with computers does not necessitate being a hacker, just as cutting down a tree doesn't make you a carpenter. It's all about what the tree ends up doing after it's been cut down (ie, wether it crushes some kids or is made into a presidential desk). God I love metaphors.

LOL Well this thread went downhill fast.

To answer the TOPIC:

I think the Admin did what any good admin does, they found a problem, found proof, and took care of it. Along the way they took care of a few other loop holes as well, the interal forums access hole ,... I know I'd found it awhile back by the "Who's Online" section,...clicked a thread someone was reading and POOF I was in a secured forum and didn't know it at first.

As far as how long it took,....you've gotta understand Admin on a forum of this size and larger probably have had a few "this guy hacked me....ban me now!" reports,...I don't blame them for waiting until they'd found solid proof,...screenshots and what not are too easily faked. Plus it takes a good bit of time to search through all the correct areas.

Anyways,...**** happens....this happened...it's done.

On the asumption u IP banned Vadar, what happens when he gets a new pc or changes ISP or uses a different pc or moves house or sumin. Surely it is possibly for your IP address to be changed in at least one of those ways.

So i wouldn't bet on him not getting to view the forum
