Today is the Orthodox Easter and since I am an Orthodox my self, I wish a happy Easter to all other Orthodox HLPers.

I'm not Orthodox but that doesn't mean I can't wish people all the best - so I'll go with that. Have a good one everyone

Happy Easter to you too, Razor!

Hmm, it seems no one (including myself) put a post up on Western Easter.  How strange.  I guess everyone else was as busy that day as I was.

Happy 1 week after the Western Easter, although I'm atheist myself it doesn't stop me completely ignoring Easter save for a trip to a mate's house to play FL!:D

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Happy passover to you too :p

You know, I've always wondered why Christians don't celebrate the Jewish holidays. We started out as a Jewish sect, after all....

Some do.  But as Christianity spread beyond the Jewish community, those celebrations and rituals and holidays which were not particularly applicable to Christians of non-Jewish background were not transplanted.  This is in line with the decision of the earliest recorded Church council, in Acts 15.

Unfortunately, they did not differentiate between the Gentiles not being required to celebrate the Feasts of the Lord and forgetting completely about thier Jewish roots. :doubt:

But I warn you that if you get me started on that subject, you'll never see the end of it, as that's the main focus of my dad calling in ministry. :D

Many people don't celebrate their roots simply because they have so many. Take me for instance: I've got German, French, Dutch, and English. If I were to celebrate all of the cultural holidays of each one, I'd get nothing done.

Well, uh, today's my birthday, too. Further evidence that they got Easter and Christmas mixed up, if you ask me.
