Any link? or was this in a hard copy of the magazine?

This is one game I want to buy immediately when released...

Me too. I think they made a bad move by shortening it compared to the last one though.

Hard copy I fear. I can have more information up soon. I just started this thread in a moment of desperation at the end of school in order to get people posting. There were 23 members on the board but no-one was posting!

Anway, DX2, apparently it is going to have some Ultra-Physics, with the dynamic lights, which can all be moved at your will, and so can all objects. there will be ragdoll death-ness, and apparently so much gore it will be sickening enough to disaude you from completing your objectives simply by killing all the enemies!;7

I want to see brains splattering up walls and realistic entrance and exit wounds. Oh, and proper comedy limping after leg shots.

Not that I kill many people in DX, but when I do I like it to be accurate :)

I'll be glad if this one is shorter. Don't get me wrong DX was a great game but it started to drag on for me when you got to the Chateau in France. Oh yeah, it crashed every time I got into the maze behind it, I think that may have stopped me playing aswell.

Off Topic but hey, I've made the EVE:Online beta, got the E-mail today. Woo Hoo
What frequency are you getting? Is it noise or sweet sweet music? - Refused - Liberation Frequency.

SHORTER? Bah. It's got a lot less replay value, what without a map editor, so you want it to be as long as possible. You get bored, just stop playing. If you really need to know the end or something, there are thousands of sites that will be happy to ruin it for you.

Plus, you skipped out at the chateau? You missed the mech battle!:D

Deus Ex was a cool game, but there was one thing I HATED about it -  the skills upgrade system. I hate it when games with this kind of skill improvement system start you off at the level of a blind baby. I mean, I've never fired a real gun in my life, but I'm damn sure I could shoot someone in the face from three metres away! Also, the weapons were almost entirely useless - the assault rifle burned through most of a magazine to kill one measly soldier! I ended up using the sword thingy ( I forget what it was called) and a massively customized stealth pistol (with extended clips, scope, laser dot, etc) for kiling anything short of a battle robot.

I liked the twists in the plot, and the open-ended climax, so the new game has huge potential. I just hope they improve the RPG side of things, and give you a more realistic level of skill for each area to start with - for a nanotech-equipped, state-of-the-art killing machine, JC Denton wasn't very good at pretty much anything to begin with. I'd have fired the trainers, myself! :)  A System Shock 2-style thing, where you choose a career path to determine your area of expertees and then expand on it (if you want), or learn new stuff.
Any fool can pull a trigger...

I dunno, I wasn't too bad at the start.

One thing I can't get, though, is what the hell the Assault Shotgun is in there for. It's just sad. It shoots these sad little BBs in the general direction of whatever you pointed it at, and I can just walk up to the guys with 'em and take them out from close range. I tried using one a while back, eventually I just switched to the pistol because it was so pathetic. At least the assault rifle did some actual damage, you could eventually kill a guy with it. And it had those cool HE grenades. Rapid refire on those saved me a buncha times.

I just stuck with my sniper rifle. Damn thing could break doors down o_O

Aye, but getting ammo for that thing is like trying to find a safe place to put your dick on the lower east side. The cathedral mission kept me on for a little, but then I upgraded my rifle skill, found that due to the roughly 50 accuracy mods I'd stuck in the thing it was now like a friggin' rock for about half a mile, and used up all my ammo taking out guys from blocks away.

I actually thought that the assault shotgun was too good; you need to get master skill with rifles to use it correctly, but then you can instantly focus all of the projectiles onto one point (it doesn't make sense, but that is what happens). A single hit on the head or two anywhere else with that kills a guy even from fairly large distances. Same goes with the assault rifle actually, but with that you have to hit the guy on the head; anywhere else and it will take forever to kill him. The AIs suck with it though and hit their friends accidentally all the time.

I wonder if they will have the comedy bugs and glitches that were there in the first game... :D

Weapons were a bit of a worry with DX. I suppose we're all used to games where you shoot in a fairly straight line, but then DX isn't a FPS. All the same, it would be nice to be able to hit a barn wall from inside a barn when you begin the game. And by God does the assault rifle need fixing.

DG's weapons o' choice:

    Pistol
    Shock prod
    Baton
    Crossbow
    Stealth pistol
    Big **** loads of grenades
    GEP gun
    Nano-sword thingy (replaces the baton)
    Sniper rifle

Question - would being able to shoot out cameras with regular bullets make the game too easy?

I like to think of the as super-futuristic bulletproof cams. But I really, really wished I could fly that helicopter. Anyone else feel that way?

Er... with the exception of the crossbow, you DO shoot in a pretty much straight line. Your accuracy can be off, but you don't have to compensate for range or anything...

You actually can shoot out some of the cameras with a master-level sniper rifle. Explosives also work, but that would kind of defeat the point due to the loud noise. :D

This is my usual combination:
riot prod
dragon's tooth
assault rifle
assault shotgun
sniper rifle
crossbow
GEP gun
LAMs

Regarding the skill system, what would be really neat is if the skill points were done away with entirely and you got better at weapons with lots of practice. The game could see how many guys you have killed with each weapon and automatically adjust your accuracy/reload time/etc. based on that.

I don't carry more than one type of explosive, which is usually grenades for the assault rifle.

I tend to carry:
stealth pistol
Sniper Rifle
Assault Rifle
Crossbow
Assault Shotgun
Dragon's Tooth

and that's about it. I use the nano sword for nearly everything.

annoys me how you pick up everything from a corpse, why can't you selevt what to pick up, like in SS2?

Why the sword, though? It's so... useless. And it takes up a ****load of space, too.

If someone's close enough that you can use that thing, you have a problem, anyway.
