Back to Halo. I'm back on the Covenent cruiser after disabling the three generators. Once again, stupid Captain Heyes is captured and I have to rescue him again. Can anybody give me some tips for that stage?

Let the flood and covenant fight it out and clear up any flood that remain, shotgun should still be the weapon of choice and (if you're playing on legendary) try to avoid conflict as much as possible when you're not on the ship.

How about the reactors, what sequence do you suggest?

...and how the damn do I make sure the Flood is down, I pummell them with my rifle just to make sure they won't stab me in the back (persistent bastards...)....

Anyway the last part is quite hectic....especially since no checkpoint is given after blowing up one or two reactor.

  • What the hell are you lookin at?
The assault rifle just makes them mad. so i either toss a plasma grenade on them or i shoot them with the shotgun/if i have a rocket launcher i shoot them with that too. (ah i love the rocket launcher)

You need rockets to blow up the reactors, so you're stuck with a single weapon.

There are these floating sentries too...

the sentries are easier to take out with either the Shotgun/Plasma pistol. i prefer the plasma pistol cause they're everywhere.

You can use grenades on the reactors too but you need to time it better than the rockets. The last run on The Maw is one of my favouritest moments in gaming.

Dammit, the Halo gameplay is addictive. This may finally be the game that induces me to upgrade. ;)

legendary is the only way to play Halo.
The other difficulties are way to easy.

Totally agree with you on that one, Legendary is the only way to truly see how impressive the AI is. I love it because each battle is totally unique and fantastic in its own way.

I remember one of the first few times I played "The Silent Cartographer" on legendary, I saw a lone grunt on the first beach hiding behind a crate and thought I'd circle around him, only to realise that the bastard had lured me into a trap whereupon two elites proceeded to smack me down. It took a good five minutes for my jaw to return to its normal position.

the tank sequence, playing co-op, is pretty cool.
My bro would use the sniper rifle, and I'd use his screen (x-box split screen) to gauge the range of the tank's gun.

Or maybe all that happened was that at high AI levels they're more likely to hide until you walk in front of their sights. Don't confuse an emergent situation for genius AI design.

That had crossed my mind but the way it all came together seemed more than a coincedence. I was circled around by one elite and he waited until he was behind me, taking me by suprise, at which point, the other guy jumped out from behind some crates and proceeded to kick my arse. I don't know, it's weird because it certainly felt like it was intended as opposed to an accident or coincedence.

Either way, the AI on Halo impresses me regardless of that incident. It's nice to fight an enemy that at least seems (even if it's just accidental) to respond to the different situations you give it.

its not coincedince; the AI is programed to surround you and attack on your flanks. It quite an effective way of exterminating the chief if you ask me.

It's like Homeworld 2, the AI has a lot of sneaky tricks programmed into it, including feints, lures and dummy assaults to draw your units off, it's pretty advanced! :)

I think those tricks only apply to the harder difficulties. I play on the normal setting and the computer is quite difficult.

Honestly, the sole reason why the game is hard on legendary is those damned elites and their shields.

Jackels are piss easy to take down...
jackels shields do go down, shoot it with a plasma pistol/rifle and they soon loose it.

easy pickings.
