  • I'm a magic man, I've got magic hands.
I just got the demo today and was presently suprised to see that it could run on my computer (albeit at ****ty 1024 768). Only thing I noticed different is that shooting seems a lot different in single player with low res, the warthog has worse control than before with a mouse, and my Geforce2 makes me want to cry.

And what's wrong with multiplayer?

ugg, HALO's mouse issue rears its ugly head again...
one of the reasons you may be having bad control with the mouse is HALOS mouse acceleration... mouse acceleration can really kill mouse functionality and FPS on slower PCs

for so stupid reason, bungie didnt give you the option to turn it off...

go to bungie.net and look for the link "The maw" its a tech support forum; look for the tweakadge guide there.

or you could to a google search ;)

but there is almost always lag in multi, even for someone with a decent connection... that and the ground (blood gulch especially) is all one texture and its little tiny ever-repeating tiles... Banshee and the new maps are the only good things to come to multi, excep the Fuel rod... ;7

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

For single and multi-player, you can't beat the pistol/shotgun combo, unless you want to do something more specific (blow up a wraith/ghost/banshee with a rocket launcher, sniper someone from the other side of the level etc.) I find it's the best all rounder.

I'd like to get into Halo PC multiplayer, the game doesn't seem to really like my computer much for some reason though. Guess I'll just have to stick with the 'box then.

I just wish Halo would allow specular and Reflections in my menu, I know the GeForce 4 MX is up to it, cos it does just fine in things like Black and White and Unreal Tourney 2k3 :(

I've never played the XBOX version (blasphemy!  ), but I did enjoy the demo a lot.

In the demo I was using the energy rifle much more than the automatic rifle, as it seems like the latter is only effective at close ranges.

Even after all this time though, I find that the look of the game is still breathtaking...  even when it's chugging along slowly on my computer... heh

Cheers!

yes and no, both the assault rifle, and the plasma rifle have thier own pros and cons, i just stick with the assault rifle because of the 60 round clip, abundance of ammo, and the fact that it doesn't overheat..

does the same on mine, but that's a memory issue for me..;)

the AR is best when used on shielded targets, like elites... ITs more accurate then the Plasma rifle, and can be reloaded, and doesn't overheat, but the Plasma Rifle is more effective against jackels than the AR since it burns out their shields...

Jackals cannot fight close-range all that well, and can succumb to a good smack upside the head with the butt of your rifle..;) :drevil:

here's another one.. just for the humor factor alone, attaching a plasma grenade is rather funny... Try it, and see...

Speaking of Halo, Here's a fun trick you should try:

Flying tank-
Make a mulitplayer mode with grenades turned on. Get a partner and run them over with the tank. Wait for them to respawn, then keep running them over in the same spot until you have a pile of plasma grenades. Drive the tank over the grenades, back far away, and shoot the grenades with an rocket. The tank will fly a good 50 feet in the air! Pretty funny to see:yes:
