I just tought of something!

Why is Escaflowne so special?
- It was built by the Ispanos! - True, but they built lot's of armours

- The Ispanos used the knowledge of Atlantis when they built it! - Allso true, but they did that with all of their armours.

Why then? Why is there only one Escaflowne?
My theory is the following:
- Escaflowne is the only armour on which the draconians themsevs worked. It is said that the survivors of Atlantis imparted some of their knowledge to the Ispanos. We allso know that Escaflowne was one of the fist armour they built - the draconians were still around and they helped them. That would explain a lot - and would allso explain it's power. I reckon that the redish crystal and the two green ones (with the green energist inside) were made by the draconians theselvs, and while the Ispanos can repair Escaflowne, they can't build a new one!

On the other note, there is one show that is a classic, but we haven't talked about - ROBOTECH!
I'v only seen the begining - from the time the reconstructed the SDF-1 and launched it, to the time when it returned 3 years later. It was on one video tape and some things were clearly cut.
Nevertheless, a excellent show!

yeah, the thing with robotech is that I can't get an opinion of it, as I can't get hold of it.

I saw silver fang (ginga: nagareboshi gin) this weekend tho. the super-cut, swedish-dubbed version. pure ownij. could be because it was the first anime I ever came in contact with... but I'm definitely getting the uncut version (three hours longer ). If you haven't ever heard of it (which is very probable), it's about a silver colored akita dog that runs away from his master to be in a group of wild dogs that are to kill a big bear which incidentally also killed his father (and grandfather). the bear never sleeps, since silver fangs master shot him in the eye, and injured the bears brain, making him a complete psycho. no such things as character development or deep plot, just a lot of blood and dogs killing and getting killed...

I don't know wheter it's better but I would watch Macross before Robotech.

A common mistake is that people confuse the two: Harmony Gold massivly reedited Macross and combined it with several other shows to get a serie long enough to air in US.

BTW the story is good - it has tiwsts and suprises (I haven't seen the original, but I do know the story and I watched several additional material) with well portrazed characters.

Get Macross: Do You Remember Love - it's more accesable, though it is an extremely short and thick movie made from the serie.

Gits - SAC had an ending that left me hanging with a WTF^^ Mates -feeling also. Great series though, I'll give it 9/10

This is an eternal question "Which one is better, Macross or Robotech". I can't answer that one. I might prefer Macross since it IS the original version of the story, but I can't deny the fact that I saw Robotech first.

Marcoss - DYRL sure is short considering that they tried to sum up the story of Macross, but IMHO they succeeded pretty well (excluding the fact that they modified the strory a bit). And the quality of the animation is a bit better of course.

Wanna see a really depressing but still good short series? Then go find Saishuuheiki Kanojo. 7.5/10 (because I do prefer happier stories)

Since I watched the cut version maby smeone can fill in the blanks for me.

The tape I watched starts with the chrash of SDF-1, then the rebuilding of it. then the Zantradi attack and SDF-1 tries that uber-device that teleports it to Pluto. Then they fight they way back and when the Zentradi Scout self-destructs (with Rick Hunter still inside), the show jumps to  
* HOLE IN STORY*
the Zentradi blasting a asteroid and bombarding SDF-1 with it. Then the battle of the 3 Veritech on board the Zentradi ship (Hunter is there???)and their esacpe, and the landing  of SDF-1 back on Earth after 3 years in space.

Now...what happend in that hole?

finding them depends on the method... BT  is pretty hard right now since they are allready gone from the lists, I'm not sure about eMule or Kazaa but DC is a sure trick.

The 4 final episodes are online though... but I think they are HK Bootleg DVD rips considering the subs are pretty... err... odd time to times (adding up the confusement).

When Gits - SAC got licenced they did ask all the fansubbers to stop fansubbing and distributing fansubs (as happened to Gundam SEED aswell). But people did fansub it unofficially as has happened to all licenced anime. Gits-SAC is an exeption though with the fact that the remaining 4 eps can be found only as DVD rips (at least that how I did find them).

Nevertheless, if I can find those DVD's I must have them... and Gundam SEED DVD's and...

And I third the OST statement, it is fantastic.

EDIT: Yeah, Yoko Kanno is the best!!!!!! I have around 64 of his works from Escaflowne and a few form some other shows.
