So how are you doing these?  Really large standard FS2 background bitmaps or an entirely new skybox with a single texture wrapped around it?

Hey Lightspeed. Just realized you have a problem with your planets. The alpha transparency should not extend over the shadowed part of the planet which it currently does as evidenced in this picture.

wrong. You can blend them any way you want. You can put the planet on top OR behind the nebula, depends on what comes first in the background editor.

@icefire: Lots of little elements that should be used to puzzle together screen-filling backgrounds.

Yeah not entirely new to the background making (http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/blackwater/screens.php) but I wasn't sure what goes on these days so I thought I'd best catch up.  At some point I (or someone else) is going to have to go through all of BWO and bring her upto spec for release.

Nice. You've got that one part that really looks like a rageing maelstrom or some such thing. A bit too dark and "spotty"  for my tastes, but I guess you've got to have variety.

Hehe, well it can't all be compliments :D:D

What colours do you have in mind for your next releases. So far, I think there is : red, green, light blue, dark blue, beige/blue. Maybe a yellowish/brown one next, or a purple/pink one?

I'm hoping for a dusty set.  Beige/greyish but with a hint of color.  What I think would be really cool would be to have a system in the middle of that column nebula formation, where you've got some really thick, well defined structures all around you, open space above, and a cloudtop-like level way below.  That'd probably have to be done as a skybox though.

2000 posts, I guess that should be some kind of a milestone ;)

Personally I still have the greatest respect for the Veterans :D (I mean this in a good way) around here even if they haven't been keeping up with the new additions to the game. What u guys have done in the past has certainly made an impact on how freespace2 is developing now and for the future.

Dunno why my registration date is so recent, I've been around since before FS2 shipped. I guess I was just on the VBB or VWBB and never really bothered to come 'round here. :D:D

Yeah....I've been in the bloody community since late 1997 :D

I think I'm almost going to have to relearn the table structure again when (if?) we upgrade BWO for SCP support.  I want to take advantage of a few nifty things and maybe use some of the new weapon effects that have been created for various things (and create some new nebulas and planets to upgrade the visuals)....but I haven't a clue on how some of this stuff is being done.

So yes...feeling old and outdated...need an upgrade to IceFire V2.0.  Or just a version of me that works at night while I sleep.  That'd get all those essays and exams done.

Hey any word on when these nifty nebulas will be available for Download? :D

And will I need SCP for them?
