will these ever replace those campaign nebulae?  or am i going to have to start staging my screenies in your test missions to avoid having thos embarrasing stock dust clouds in the background

So then, how does Lightspeed make these pimpin nebula's again? Photoshop? Some paint program? Lot's of love?

I think he takes real-world nebula images from NASA or wherever, and then heavily edits them in Photoshop to arrive at what we've seen.

Singh, those shots are amazing. Especially the last two. If we ever get together some kind of amazing screenshots archive, that last shot should be in their for sure.

Also, Singh, might I recommend you stick to a single colour scheme or at least similar colours. The blue and green go well together, but the red just look out of place.

jdjctagle or whatever he is called is gonna work with LS to edit the main campaign. it'll be together with different sun settings to look more like the real thing

Well, in any case, I have to give Lightspeed some big credit for making really nice-looking planets and nebula's... kudos X 10...

Are those different nebulas? Like, non-Lightspeed related?

That's apparently right (I remember him saying thats how it was done somewhere around here). I keep meaning to try it for myself but never quiet get around to it...

All planets/nebulae in the screenies here are mine.

The planets dont show through each other, it's just oddly aligned with the lighting of the smaller planet making it look like that

@singh: Thanks for the background spew Added it to TheLibrary(TM). As for all the other attempts... Don't mix them too much, I reccommend sticking to one (or two) sets per mission. Still, Singh's latest screenshots really look nice (mixing came out better than i expected it to). Could you PM me the background spew?

this wont work, because the env build does NOT support the nebulae

You'd have to edit together your own star.tbl, and only put in the specific set you want screenies of. Everything since release 4 requires the latest (latest latest ) SCP builds to run properly.

The only good thing about it is that everything after release 4 will not kill the FSretail nebulae anymore.
