I dunno.  Possibly because PCS and Ts don't seem to use smoothgroup data... IIRC for Ts you need to break the model up to get proper smoothgrouping.

Yup...TS only supports autofacet. And since no one seems to be able to get Styxxs Max exporter working correctly, we're stuck with TS.

?

What max version?  If it's v4, I've been converting stuff fine, the only errors coming from having the wrong name strings (albiet I've not been adding dockpoints or user properties).

V. 5, and I'm not the only one with my problem.

Show me the scene rollout (I forget the name, shows hierarchy) or similar;   I've never had a problem converting with it so far that hasn't been down to my own mistake (misnamed or unlinked objects).

It never gets the chance to load. I get an error message while Max is loading plugins on startup.

Ugh, the old and ugly Centauri Prime. Use the new version, Mr. Fury!

Those screenshots are older than the new Centauri Prime.

And since we're really close to R3 some more, because after the release no one will look at this thread anymore :)

And a nice before/after autofaceting shot

You know what, I think TBP looks much better without shine-mapping because you didn't see that kind of thing in the show...

That's what I thought first, but when you look closely at the CGI models (especially in season 3&4), they actually used specmapping. But the models in the show were very high-poly, that's why it looke a bit different than in the FS2 engine with it's vertex based shading model.

But you can always uncheck the shinemap box in the launcher :)

I mean, they did use shine, but it was very subdued.

Keep in mind that the shine effect can be tweaked via command line and that ambient light has a great impact on the overall style too. Personally I like almost no ambient light with hard contrast, but you can adjust the settings to make it look more like the show.
