Very true that - I'll be fair, if I could afford to buy an X-Box and Halo for that game series alone then I would. It's quite a laugh on the X-Box. However I simply can't afford it and the PC port was poor (for me).

I'm not bitter - I'm still playing Battlefield 1942 ;)

That said, though, the port truly wasn't all that great. I never play it on PC - the Xbox version is so much better. Not to mention the whole fact that there's co-op on Xbox and not on PC. ;)

I never could... Silent Cartographer in particular I couldn't, which pretty much spoiled the intro.

I just find Halo flat.... none of the weapons felt particularly punchy (the aliens ones were decidedly limp), the flood were derivative and boring (space zombies...marvellous), and the covenant were pretty much dull (the Grunts in particular are just annoying kiddie cartoon enemies, and it destroys a lot of the feeling).

I did enjoy it... but nowhere near to the extent that, baseds on the hype, I should have.  Some bits were fun, some touches were neat (the shield mechanic and that almost every weapon was useful), but I wouldn't give it more than, ooh, 75% as a review score.

But, if you like it, you like it.   I don't especially, so I don't really care about playing the sequel, be it on X-box or PC.

Albeit the Bungie website is pretty neat in terms of the amount of outtakes, concept art and whatnot they put up.

NB: I'm sure I've seen a Halo body sticking through a wall... definately one seen one which was hanging more or less in mid air after a 'nade.

I liked the Grunts. On easier settings it actually felt abit tight killing them.

That, if anything, is true. Gonna be some great games around. :)

They still sell Xboxes y'know, Ice. :D That said, if you're looking forward to Halo 2 I'm sure you've got some mates nearby whose Xbox you can have a play with. It's always more fun with a few players around anyway. :)

lols.

I hardly think Halo2 is going to be a dressed up version of Halo...

Halo was pushed forwards to release with the Xbox. (Which lets face it, saved Microsoft's butt).
That's why level's were repetitive.

A bad PC port can hardly be compared to the Xbox version though.
Anyone, who's played a couple of games of Rockets on Prisoner with 8 or so people would never diss Xbox Halo multiplayer... :)

For Halo 2, I'm actually considering getting XboxLive, it looks pretty damn fine. And I dare say that they've done a heaps better job at network code for the net then the PC port.

It has a dynamic hosting system, where it picks the person with the best ping before play to act as host. I do believe, that even if the host player for some reason gets disconnected, the game continues, with the next best connection taking over the Host job with a harldly noticable pause in the game!

I certainly hope some of this in-genious network code travels to the world of PC gaming... Just think of it, unstopable Quake4 games! hehehe...

The future is certainly looking good in the realm of gaming thats for sure. :D

Halo and Halo 2 are the only games on the box that I like, and I'd rather have the PC versions.

Therefor that console has only 2 games worth buying.

Ninja Gaiden is pretty awesome on the Xbox. My brother and I just finished it, 30 hours all through. :)

I bought Burnout 3 yesterday. Without doubt the game of the year so  far, it looks and plays fantastic. Me and my mate were up until half five this morning just smashing the **** out of everything in our paths.

If you don't like driving games do not fear, it is so much more than that, it is like they took the scientific theory for pure fun and synthesized it into making a game.

Adwight: Comparing Metroid Prime to Halo is like comparing an apple and a brick. What's wrong with enjoying both games? Or are you just a Nintendo fanboy?

Halo 2 isn't even out yet, and it's very doubtful that there will be a PC version. Also, I'm incredibly tired of hearing the same old "Xbox has no games" schtick, that was certainly the case for the first six months of release no doubt but that was also the case with the PS2 and the Gamecube as well. I think it's fair to say all three consoles have an absolute glut of AAA titles now and to dismiss any of them without even looking into them means your gonna lose out on some great games.

I dunno, maybe it's just me but I don't understand disliking something like a console without properly looking into it first. I just love to play games.

Setekh - Yeah Ninja Gaiden is pretty awsome, though can be frustrating at times...
I don't think I've ever had hatred towards the bad guys as much as I did in Ninja Gaiden. :p
Have you beat it on hard, or very hard yet? I've been trying hard, but think I might play through in Normal again to practice...

So 01010, you'd recommend Burnout3? I've been looking at that game lately...
I'll probably end up buying another Xbox game this week, I think Fable is being released, so I'm kinda torn between Fable and Burnout 3...
Would you say B3 would be fun in another couple months time?
I've heard tales of Fable's shortness, game play being 12-15hours once through, I'd still like to get it though... :)

The only game I envy from other consoles is Pikmin... I havn't played it yet, but that game just looks awsome :D
The thought of being command those little creatures to attack en-masse is heaps funny...
I was almost going to pick up a cube for that game, its cheap enough anywho...
I've got to play that game at least once... hehehe...

I thought Halo was horrible after hiring it for Xbox. It was just... boring. In every possible way. But then again I have (apparently) very bizarre tastes in FPSes. For instance, many of you will probably think I'm mad/stupid/dead when I say I thought Unreal 2 was infinitely better than Halo. Although I will admit that Halo is quite a bit better than the abomination that was Far Cry.

With that out of the way, I'll probably look into Halo 2 if it ever comes out on PC, although I'm not really concerned whether it does or not. I just hate console FPSes (controls are too damn sluggish) so I won't even bother with the Xbox version. I'd sooner play Far Cry than buy an Xbox.

Not that I hate Xbox, I just haven't seen any games that really interest me. It's the same with all the other consoles, with the exception of PS1 which has the first Silent Hill.

*sigh*

I'll reiterate my thoughts again

Halo PC was not a failure. Halo PC has better graphics that H-XB. If your cad does not support the graphics, that is not a problem with the game. It is a problem with graphics. I get full functionality out of it with a radeon 9700. The Xbox uses a modified GF2. The GF4 is superior to the Xbox version of the GF2. The box clearly states the requirements for the game, and if you can't meet them, you can't expect it to run.

I do not have an Xbox at all, and yet i have been playing halo since 3 months after it came out. I will play Halo 2, not because it has been hyped up by everything, but because the origonal was fun. Its the same case as FreeSpace. I didn't buy the sequel because i heard i was the most advanced game of its time, I bought it because I had already played FreeSpace1, and it was fun.

If you don't like Halo, thats fine. But you can't label a game you haven't played.

Indeed.

Sorry Ransom Arceihn, but you are mad/stupid/dead. :p

FarCry wasn't THAT bad. I find it quite entertaining, just ramming my boat into the shoreline and flying over the island... Needless to say some of the poses the Merc's pull off, see the 'A picture is worth a thousand words thread' :p

You are right, you have incredibly weird taste (weird could be substituted for poor). Unreal 2 was an absolute turd, a polished turd, but nonetheless, it's like they found a way to suck the fun out of shooting ****. I'm curious as to why you didn't like Far Cry though cause that's the FPS of the year for me so far, the AI was great, it was very open ended and it looked and played fantastically.

Grug: Don't even think about it, get Burnout 3 as soon as you possibly can, don't worry about not liking, you will love it, I cannot see anybody not liking that game, it's pure fun.

Halo PC graphics are actually identical, no textures were changed and neither were the models, the only difference is that Halo PC uses Pixel shader 2.0 rather than the XB specific shaders (it's also the reason why it ran poorly before being heavily patched) also, the Xbox has a GeForce 3 like card with it's own specific set of shaders, it's not really comparable to any PC video cards as the Xbox GPU does most of the work and not just rendering. The only graphical difference between PC and XB is resolution and Anisotropic filtering (AA is disabled).

But my point about Halo PC being a port had nothing to do with the visuals, it was the feel of the game. It just felt off.
