The Republic of Matowa is a tiny, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its burgeoning mongoose population. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The medium-sized, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Social Welfare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 15%. A small private sector is dominated by the Basket Weaving industry.

Crime is a problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Matowa's national animal is the mongoose and its currency is the matowan dollar.

Word has it that The Kingdom of Massivebender's dictator, beatspete, is undertaking a project with the head of the a new upstart country:

The Armed Republic of Girls Aloud 3000 is a tiny, safe nation, remarkable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate population of 5 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 52%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Book Publishing.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control. Girls Aloud 3000's national animal is the cheryl tweedy, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the cd.

We should have a 'best flag' competition.

The Empire of Sefirianth is a tiny, pleasant nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, cynical population of 6 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The enormous, corrupt government is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Commerce are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 29%, but much higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is led by the Woodchip Exports, Uranium Mining, and Information Technology industries.

Elections have been outlawed and military spending is on the increase. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force. Sefirianth's national animal is the lion and its currency is the deedria.

The Republic of Nazicommunists is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 5 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 50%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Door-to-door Insurance Sales.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Nazicommunists's national animal is the walrus, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the woombah.

The Republic of Vaynar is a tiny, devout nation, notable for its burgeoning phoenix population. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 6 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked morass -- juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Religion & Spirituality, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 40%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Woodchip Exports industry, followed by Information Technology and Arms Manufacturing.

Voting is voluntary. Crime is well under control, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Vaynar's national animal is the phoenix and its currency is the lux.

Also, status update:

The Democratic Republic of Airlann is a small, socially progressive nation, notable for its burgeoning grey wolf population. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 7 million hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The large, liberal government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 21%. A substantial private sector is led by the Beef-Based Agriculture industry, followed by Pizza Delivery and Automobile Manufacturing.

Voting is voluntary, education and welfare spending are on the rise, and euthanasia is legal. Crime is a problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Airlann's national animal is the grey wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Airlann Pound.

Airlann is ranked 12th in the region and 56,792nd in the world for Greatest Rich-Poor Divides.

Here's an interesting one for The Armed Republic Of Girls Aloud 3000

A group of emergency room doctors has petitioned the government to introduce mandatory organ donations.
The Debate

   1. "It's not as crazy as it sounds," says Dr. Miranda Wong. "Every day, people die because we don't have the organs to save them. Well, that and widespread under-funding of the health system. But the point is, if the government allowed us to take organs from dead people, we could save hundreds of lives a year. And come on, it's not like dead people need them."

   2. "You keep your damn hands off my organs!" says alarmed hospital patient Jean-Paul Hanover. "They are my organs, and I'll do with them what I like. The government has no right to my body."

Is it wrong to force dead people to save the living?

This is where a society based upon an infactuation with a pop group starts to encounter difficulties....  What would be the liberal answer here?
