How did you discover HLP?
OK, admins, I'd especially like to hear from you! ;)

Well, back in '01 or '02, I was searching for FS2 pictures and stumbled upon Blackwater Operations images.  When I reached HLP, I immediately got scared off by the red and black, thinking this was a gothic site and my computer would get infested with viruses...(yeah, I know, a weird reaction :nervous:).

So I forgot about the site then stumbled upon it again in 2004 on the first day of school.  Read up on classics like FreeSpace: Jeopardy, and other things.  Registered later that month. :p

OK guys, spill.  You too, Kalfireth and Setekh. :D

Well, I had been lurking around the freespace.volitionwatch forums for, I don't know, a couple of months?

Then one day I remember checking out the BWO forums, and these guys there were talking about something called HLP. That's pretty much the way I ended up in here, and I'm glad I did. :D

Heh. Gothic site? I know a guy (asian, wears glasses) who used to be a goth, with all the hairdo and such, and now he's studying to become a minister!

No, wait, I'm going off subject... I found this site a short while after finding... no... wait... I can't give off my identity to Set'...

Lets just say.... ...early 2004....
... ... $10 says Setekh doesn't know who I am....

I was directed here from a post on a Freespace thread on some mac gaming forums. A bit later I found out that a mod I'd been looking forward to (MT) was hosted there, so I registered.

I found the original Sector Game, then was duly directed here.

I think it was 2003 when I first found my way here, but for some reason I left too..  But when it was the time of The Derek Smart Wars/Year of the n00b I came back and registered. Now I refuse to leave :D

2003. Probably via :V:'s site, then proceeding to Volition Watch, after that HLP. Just watching most of the time.

Edit, having read Fishgut's post, I figure I was wrong - as the source code was released well after I started lurking VW. So, I figure it's rather early 2002.

Back in 2001 I was browsing throgh the VBB and found a link to the XWAUP, which absorbed me for a year or so. Got interested in FS2 again -> found the VWBB (mainly TBP and BWO) -> some dude posted a link to the early SCP page an said there were those crazy people trying to get a real project rolling.
I bookmarked the page, since it looked promising although not much was implemented back then (mainly new SexPs and bugfixes and removed limits). That was sometime in 2002, but I didn't know what this HLP thing was supposed to be (besides hosting for the SCP), but with time I wandered more and more outside of the SCP forum and got sucked in and eventually registered.

Got here in fall of '01 through the link on the Machina Terra website after searching for FS2 on Google. Lurked for a while, then decided to join up in January '02.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.
