Oh, just a second, it's probably my fault, I had no idea 71 was out now.

EDIT: Nope, still not working.

1.6.70 is still good, no critical fixes in .71.

I definitely recommend 10 PPS, short packets. I also would try w/o improving UDP/IP quality first.

It looks like I'm the only one whose games are still visible to others, if I could get around these crashes. :(

Just make a "rebuild all".

That didn't seem to work, the error still keeps coming up. Do you think you could make a debug build and email it to me? ([email protected], without the capital letters) I would really like to get to the bottom of this.

Re: semi-sub-offitial hlp super happy descent 2 multiplayer action!
Thanks, the debug build didn't turn up much but I solved the problem. It had something to do with one of the pilot files. The strange thing is that the crashes kept occurring on any new pilots I made as long as that one was present. I deleted all my pilot files manually and there was no crash on the next pilot I made. In any case, it's good to have this working again.

Anyone up for a game tonight? We may finally be able to get something going now.

Re: semi-sub-offitial hlp super happy descent 2 multiplayer action!
I don't have a lot of time right now, but I'll set one up on the tracker to make sure it works. Remember to turn off the improve UDP/IP setting, which still causes games to become invisible.

[edit] I can't get the tracker game to show up for some reason, but a normal one works. The IP is 69.138.167.250.

Did anyone try to join? I could join the game without any problems off my other computer.

I admit the improve quality option was only tested briefly in a LAN and may well lead to problems. Actually, it shouldn't be necessary. I will look more into it next week.

I had a server up recently for 3 or more hours ... I wonder what's wrong there. I will look more into auto-d/l, too.

It looks like nobody was available yesterday. Maybe today instead?

Was it on the tracker? I couldn't see my own game on the tracker yesterday even though it worked fine with direct IP.

Sure CP any time you like, and also, I kind of have an odd request, could you register for another instant messenger besides ICQ, it doesn't let me register. Last time wolfdog and I got it to work, I had to set the port + / - thingy to +12 even though we were supposed to be on the same port.

Re: semi-sub-offitial hlp super happy descent 2 multiplayer action!
Which one should I sign up for? I actually haven't used ICQ (or any other IM account/program) in years. I think I might have an MSN account too, but can't remember what it is now.

Let's try for tonight at 4:00 AM GMT and see how it goes.

Re: semi-sub-offitial hlp super happy descent 2 multiplayer action!
I've found MSN is the easiest to sign up for, just get a hotmail account, I'd also consider Trillian, as it's much better than Windows Messenger.

Re: semi-sub-offitial hlp super happy descent 2 multiplayer action!
Well, this sounds awesome, but unfortunately I can't get the program to work on my newer computer.

System Specs:
Model: HP 540, Intel Pentium 4
OS: Windows XP
RAM: 1.5 GB
Memory: 250 GB
Graphics: ATI Radeon X300 SE
Sound: Hauppage WinTV PVR PCI II         (<---- sound card?)
Internet: Comcast High-Speed Cable

The program "runs", but it's choppy, and it can't seem to play the music. In fact, it plays no sounds because it doesn't recognize the sound card! It also seems to run just a little too fast... like three times too fast.
In case you're wondering, the older computer that it works on doesn't have Internet connection, so that won't work.
Any ideas?
