It's Shrike. But I'll do.

Cracks me up every time.

Anyway, HW and Cataclysm sounds good. I'll probably get it soon. Is an MD a Material Defender? As in MD-2389?

Missile Destroyer, same size as a regular destroyer except that it fires sets of 4 missiles. Great for taking out wings of strike craft.

It was funny when he threw all the forces he had at us and when he saw my force he said "oh sh1t!"

And no I didn't slow down the game, I have DSL and a pretty good one at that(especially if you compare it to 56k  )

I find in Cataclysm skirmishes the Beast is always the most effective opponent.

For a start, the first thing to rresearch would be infection tech that will allow you mothership to capture any fighter or frigate groups that try to harrass you while at the same time that tech contributes towards the research needed to build cruisers.

If you hold back on building any more than four harvesters and a Processor you can build up to 4 Heavy cruisers.

After that you wont have problems with any combinations.  Your combined bean cannons will tear frigates and larger ships apart while your infection beam can at least temporarily disable the fighters (if your AU capacity is full) giving your cruisers a clean shot.

Cruise missiles sneaked in can completely wipe out an enemies resoucre gathering operation quickly as well as giving you somthing to retire and take the resources for.

Like I said, the ability to infect the enemy ships is my favourite advantage in a fight and I have played other people over a network before and come out on top simply through aggressive tactics that keep other players from having time to annoy my own resource gathering.

As for gathering resources sending a carrier and processor gives two main advantages.

1)  Your harvesters have somewhere to run if attacked plus they can shelter in your carrier.
2)  If attacked your carrier can build some fighters that can deal with the attackers or at least weaken them and buy time for reinforcements.
3)  The processor has the ability to repair units in the field and can keep other ships going for longer or even save them.
4)  If either your carrier or processor are destroyed you can continue harvesting at long distances from your Mothership until a replacement is deployed.

...phew...wnough said.

  • huh?.. Who?.. hey you kids, git off me lawn!
Try this: 3 Heavy Cruisers and lots of destroyers, and hyperspace in front of enemy mothership, they'll survive just long enough to do their damage.
or, in cataclyism(forgot how to spell it)
build leeches early on and let them do your dirty work, the ai is too stupid to know why the hell thier ships health is inching its way down. usually, in HW(both) hit-and-run is the order of the day(or an surprise attack)

Homeworld: Nothing short of the most eye and ear pleasing piece of gaming wonder that I have ever seen.

The intro is just so good

I was always gutted though I never like to lose any ship and losing a cartload of fighters was commonplace.
