If Ninty was trying to turn some heads with that name, then they've definitely succeeded. Wii!

To tell you the truth, I think it's actually starting to grow on me a little bit...

(And besides, I'd still buy the thing if they called it "Pink Fluffy Goodness," so long as it wasn't actually pink and fluffy. :p)

Actually, the name is growing on me.  The Nintendo Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!  Brilliant.

Oh, what sad times are these when passing corporations can say 'wii' at will to young men. There is a pestilence upon this land. Nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design buildings are under considerable economic stress at this period in history.

I'm planning on having a Wii in my living room before the end of the year.  My brother has also indicated he would also like a Wii in his living room.  But I'd have to check in my case whether my mum minds having a Wii in the living room, or whether it'd get in the way.

Re: Nindendo marketing strangles Revolution at birth
This is crazy. I absolutely LOVE the name. The first time I saw it I thought "OMG that is superb!" It totally works for the console, Wiiiiiiiiiiii!

Even my personal love for it aside - the reasons they have outlined also make perfect sense.
Not to mention this has had every single slightly game related message board talking about it, the marketing opportunities for calling it Wii are incredible.

You can be sure that anyone who wants a Wii will not be put off by the name, and they've got a ton of exposure out of it. I personally can't wait to have a Wii.

It's worked perfectly. It's an Internet phenomenon that far far surpasses the Sony and MS launch Hype already...

Hats off to Nintendo, they created a self advertising Fad....

When it's all said and done, I doubt anyone's going to care.

The problem with Wii is simple.

It's a one syllable. Word. The first thing they teach you in marketing 101 is to NEVER use a one syllable word for a product.

(yeah, cos the Ka has been such a disaster for Ford.......)

When did you take marketing 101?

First thing life teaches you; marketers talk ****e for a living.
