Oh.. My...

Might not have super-plasticy sheen, but that looks bonkers ace.  The game, not the kids.

Here's the game pic, for those lacking the copy-pasteability to view the link

The kids are part of the OFFICIALLY DISTRIBUTED MEDIA.

While the game looks like it could be fun, graphically it really looks worse than the Conker remake on the Xbox.

The problem with Wii is simple.

It's a one syllable. Word. The first thing they teach you in marketing 101 is to NEVER use a one syllable word for a product.
See, folks; apparently, "Coke" is an absolute failure of a product name. :p

That's two syllable's.

And it still doesn't sound like something that describes taking a piss.

yes, but at one stage it actually did contain cocaine.

Is there a point to that comment Sir Capsalot?  Or was your previous post with the link just to have a go at the promotional material?

Frankly, I couldn't give a **** about technical looks.  It looks, artistic stylewise, a bit nuts and possibly fun.  It's not soulless, is what I mean.  That's what looks great to me; it raised a smile when I first saw it.  After all, I'd rather have a DS than a PSP.

Explain to me why you percieve graphical superiority a prerequisite for quality?

aldo, this is lord eyecandy you're talking to, somebody whose entire opinions on a game were based on how it looked in its screenshots  :p

That's unfair - it's mostly pre-publicity renders.

Re: Nindendo marketing strangles Revolution at birth
I'm not innately biased either way on this; on one hand the game could be a lot of fun, as evidenced by Nintendo's other genre-defying titles, but on the other hand, it doesn't really look like it would be my cup of tea. I'll hold off judgement until I've seen it in action. What would be funny is if the backgrounds in the game are done really well, and the foreground characters were made deliberately low-poly so as to stick the proverbial finger up at the graphics whores who'll no doubt pass it over.

It's Coca-Cola or Coke. There is no product called Coke Cola, and cola is a generic term for that type of drink.

Seeing the lighting on that one, the models were probably made to look "cartoony" as they look in that shot. Either way, what the hell is that game?  :wtf:

As announced it's Rayman 4 for the Nintendo Wii developed by UbiSoft, the start of that game series dates to the DOS era...

Doesn't anyone remember Rayman?

Twas an alright platform game. He throws his floating, detached fist etc.

Best of all, there was pirates! Yarr!

Re: Nindendo marketing strangles Revolution at birth
I do, but if it is about platform I would aim for a game like Sonic: Next Gen, specially since SEGA and Team Sonic specially put a lot of work in the overall of the game, specially the dense plot, which is one of the missing things in other, but not all, platform games...

I'm not sure if 'dense plot' runs high on the list of good platform game attributes; I don't think many people bought Mario because of the dark exploration of capitalistic gains across a blighted landscape of oppression and mushrooms.

Re: Nindendo marketing strangles Revolution at birth
Sonic maybe the exception, it has a Manga from many years ago, just a graphic novel is enough to catch that it has a big difference with other games, it maybe not Mario's case because he just goes some kind of Mushrooms steroids and Nintendo don't want that image (the same goes for Pac-Man "PowerPills").

--------------------------------------------------------

And it's not really dense, but it's something that has chronological events which makes sense, not like if a new game takes place in an alternate different universe where they drop the other plot, and it makes no difference if you played or not the others.

Re: Nindendo marketing strangles Revolution at birth
Sonic should of stayed a side scroller IMO. The 3d games of it just doesn't work. =/

If they made it side scrolling again, with pimped out graphics... he might reclaim the crown. :)

It depends... I guess the Sonic games lately might have been a bit too linear kind for a 3D.
But I have a feeling that if there were a wide free 3D environment where player could dash around with Sonic freely enough, it might win big time.
Habeeb it...

0,o

There is not now and has never been any form of official Sonic manga. The closest to that is the Archie comic, which is still ongoing, and is as big a friggin' train wreck in terms of storyline as every other comic that's not been allowed to develop. Poor Superman.

Trust me on this. My other major hangout is a Sonic fanboard. :p

DS Lite FTW! I'm so getting one next month.

And Wii does sound silly, but it certainly has everyone talking: "Hey, did you hear what Nintendo's calling their new console?" Seems like pretty good marketing.. now whether it was intentional or not.. *shrugs*
