Yes.

You need them only to host as they'll be Xfered to you if you don't have them when simply playing.

However without the VP you won't have any of the voice acting and you'll probably annoy the other players while they sit around waiting for you to get the mission.

Annoying people just before the start of a multiplayer mission is generally considered to be a bad idea.

Installer updated, changelog to follow.

Added LOCAL and UNZIP commands. Neither of them are likely to be useful to the Installer as-is, but the TC-rebranded versions will benefit immensely.

Whenever I run the installer I'm getting these errors:

Download Mirror 1 (http://blah) has failed.
All Download Mirrors have failed.

This comes up for nearly all the files, if it helps I can try and make a list of files that fail but its pretty much all.
Im unsure what to do, I've made sure I have the latest version of the installer but I still have problems.

Any solutions? and I know this is a pretty sad first post but im new to both Freespace and this forum, nice meeting you all =)

The only thing to do right now is to wait for Turey, the Installer dude. I'd help you if I could, but this is quite out of my league.

Hmmm actually I think this may be a fault at my end, some how I'm completely out of disk space thats probably why, well I'll free up some and try again, if I have any further issues I'll post again, thanks for the replies =)

Yea I lack of disk space isn't a good thing when downloading anything. Also make sure whatever ports needed are open, and if theres any permissions required, you give them, I know for a fact if your running AD ware SE turn it off the auto protect WILL find the installer as a spyware.

To free up disk space: Crap Cleaner and DustBuster from MajorGeeks; DustBuster requires MS .NET Framework, which is most likely already in your system.  DustBuster is in another language, but you don't have to do anything other than run it, so that's OK.  Now, if you want to know how much space DustBuster freed up, you will have to watch it, because when it is done, it will display how much space was reclaimed for about 5 seconds and then automatically exit.

Everthing selected is far too big. You should be able to get away with just Retail and the FreeSpace Open Exes.
