anyone who would vote for the republicans at this point is a lost cause - hopelessly stupid and completely disconnected from reality.
That's exactly the type of attitude I'm referring to. There are some people, y'know, who are undecided. There are some people perhaps voting republican because they're first time voters and have seen information - lets for the sake of argument take your position of assuming unquestioned supremacy of one party over the other - only from one side, or from their Republican voting parents, etc. Or there can be people hedging their bets; unsure about who to vote for and going with an incumbent. Or traditional Rep. voters, unhappy with their party, but unsure of the benefits by voting for another.
In all thoses cases, provision of sensibly explained, intellegible and above all
polite information as to your case might indeed be enough to sway opinions - because not everyone is as entrenched as you are. Whilst the concept of shuffling everyone who disagrees with you into the 'idiod' box is a very convenient and unchallenging way of looking at the world, it's also a highly blinkered one.
Of course, you've just called them Evil Un-American Fascist Fanatic Talibans, so no chance of that now....
