Who's gonna see LOTR when? :D
I think I'm going to wait for a few days so I can avoid being in a crowded, noisy theater. Besides, as of 3 days ago, all the showings were bought out for 3 days after opening night here.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Who's gonna see LOTR when? :D
I'm going on the 28th. Couldn't really get ticket earlier and I and most of my buddies are away during Christmas. Besides there was people who camped outside the cinema two days before the tickets was released so getting a ticket to the premiere or the first week wasn't easy.

Vile beast!  BEGONE!

Anyways, I'm going to see it maybe in a week or two when the lines aren't 4 hours in advance of the showing.

Have you read the book? Should I read the book really really fast before seeing the movie?

I read it, a long long time ago.  Reading the book is a must, but it's not a requirement to enjoy this movie, although it might be better understood if you do.

If it were months or years before the movie came out, I'd say yes, but don't read it now. You'll just be disappointed by the parts they left out... :-/

Spoiler:
From what I've heard, they left out the whole Tom Bombadil scene... Shame.

Still, I've seen the previews and it looks like a pretty awesome cinematic experience.

YAY!!! I feel so special!! I saw it yesterday (12/19/01) 6:30 EST. IT IS SWEET! I read the book and the movie follows it very closely. But, yeah they did leave out a few parts.
I'll think of a siggie later..
