Since I'm recently busy with the unimpressive task of building standardized turrets for T-M capships, I don't have any good screenshots to post.

I'll have to go with a little video this time, one that shows what happens when you get too close to a Tiigran Artillery gun when it shoots:

That gun reacts as a real cannon. It will be pushed backward.  Excellent demo.

If i can´t model any ship then i use "flying trains" :-)

AFAIK the FS Open engine doesn't allow the gun barrels to recoil, but TotT will feature shockwaves from firing guns.

I'm planning to build a miniature version of this for gunships. The pilot will have a choice to go with the Flak guns that burst into shrapnel seen a few pages ago (described as 'firework weapons') or an anti-armor gun which not only shakes the screen a bit, but will also rock the whole ship off its flight path.

Long time since this thread was active...
No updates yet, as I'm stuck more/less UV-mapping capship hulls right now, I also get this:

The currently active mod generates 19 warnings and/or errors...
Where's the error list?

...have you been modding all that time on a release build ?

What the hell man.

Funny I didn't edit anything in there...

But guess that's what caused it, I now get a debug report with all the stuff that's wrong with my .tbls, and no epic crash.

Thanks.

Update...  :)

This time I'd like to introduce two Tiigran-Merisst cutters and a destroyer escort.

The cutters are small capships. By small I mean 130 meters long.

The first one, T-MCu Lewes, is an older design, now used either as a civilian convoy escort or heavily armed military transport/shuttle- as seen in this scenario.
It's armed with 4 turrets positioned to give a very nice field of fire.

The second ship, T-MCu Bodiam is a modern ship. Its 2 missile silos are armed with 2x Arquebus extended range missiles and 1x Bombard torpedoes. These ships will be found escorting convoys or capital ships as seen here, on long range patrols, or as fire support platforms to assist light offensive operations.

The third ship is the new destroyer escort, T-MDe Kremlin. The main difference between it and the older Iwakuni is the replacement of the big gun turrets up front with missile launchers. The Kremlin is now more a defensive/recon vessel than its predecessor, so a more anti-bomber weapons load out than big guns that can't reliably hit SB Seraphims is preferred.

The next update should feature some 'real' capships- corvettes.
I'm also just 20 models short (that includes gun platforms, cargo containers, drones... everything) of having this species complete for TotT.

That's not your fault, the download was most likely corrupt.
As for the new ships, they look interesting.

About time I posted something here.

This time a battle where subspace cruise missiles are tested.
The Fusee is the Tiigran TAG missile. I don't show any of the other weapons from up close as the Blunderbuss was already featured (a long time ago, but still), and the primaries don't have their visual effects done yet.

A subspace missile is visible deploying its multiple independent warheads. Each Fusee guides 2 missiles with 6 bombs each.

With linked fire that makes 24 bombs per salvo.

Up next: Ships big enough to launch the subspace cruise missiles- Tiigran Corvettes.

Whoa, that's a trippy background  I kinda like it.

It's imported from TotT mission 5, don't remember who was responsible for it right now...

How do I get a turret to retain its FOV when firing down normals?
Which AI profiles flag is responsible for fixing this?

From:
http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Turret_setup

"Fire down normals" subsystem flag forces weapons in the turret to be fired along the turrets normal. However there are additional limitations to the firing when this setup is in use. For example unless proper Ai_profiles.tbl flag is used then a secondary (roughly 74 degree for non-heat seekers and roughly 90 for heat seekers) firing cone is used.
'Teeth of the Tiger' - campaign in the making
Story, Ships, Weapons, Project Leader.

I believe it's "$use only single fov for turrets:" (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Ai_profiles.tbl#.24use_only_single_fov_for_turrets: ).

Also don't use fire down normals.  Fire on target does the same thing, and it's far less buggy/more accurate.

http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Subsystem#.22fire_on_target.22
Prevents the turret from firing unless the turret barrels (firingpoints) and targets are aligned.

Doesn't seem to have any effect on a single part turret.

"Use only single fov..." + "fire down normals" also failed.

What to look for next?

BTW- here's the part that does work:

This is the subspace missile, an engine with 6 bombs attached to it:

This is the launching ship, T-MCv Sarzana class, along with a destroyer escort and a cutter (shown a few updates earlier)

And a closer look at the ship:

2 Himeji corvettes duking it out with 3 Rakshasas. I'll post a few more images of these when I get their turrets to rotate:
'Teeth of the Tiger' - campaign in the making
Story, Ships, Weapons, Project Leader.

Oh you mean for single-parts.  Hmm, other than $use only single fov though, I don't see what flag would do that.

BP uses vertical launch systems, but all I found is that there are no flags on the turrets in ships.tbl and no flags on the weapons, which pretty much means I'm looking in the wrong places...

Yes you are. Put $Swarm: on the weapon (might be set to 1) and it'll fire down the normal. Don't spam those though, there's a limit on how many swarms can be in game at any given time.
