I can backup that statement. My EEE pcs have been able to get trough suprising amounts of abuse.
My acer netbook is small and underpowerd, as expected from an atom based system, but it's an energizer-bunny-style small. Sucker just will not quit. (course I had to upgrade the ram and swap out the spinny disc for an ssd, but if you're not up to doing stuff like that, well...) ~7&1/2 hours on a charge with low power consumption options, lightweight enough and durable enough to stand up to pretty severe usage... and even with the cost of replacement parts, it was under 400$, runs blender well enough to do modelling (though I use my desktop for renders - you can only fit so much ram in something that tiny), bluetooths nicely to my mouse, etc. etc. etc. Only complaint I've had with it is the irritation factor involved in configuring the ACPI to work properly under lubuntu.
