In some ways yes, in some ways no. You get to say the things you wanted, but you also have to watch a living, vibrant, determined human-being turned into a shell of what they used to be. 'Fortunately', for illnesses such as this, it was a pretty fast decline, he did not, at least, linger in pain for month after month, but still, to see him in the final days is a painful thing to endure.

My Father passed away between 6 and 7am this morning, he was asleep and moderately peaceful at the time.

My condolences. I hope I'm not out of line in saying that it sounds like a decent way to go, all in all. It must hurt a lot, but I hope you had a chance for any closure you needed.

Thank you And yes, there were a lot worse ways for him to go, so it is relief, in a way, that he didn't linger and that he passed quietly and without too much apparent discomfort.

Without getting overly poetic, the fact that tomorrow morning, the Sun will rise and the world will get better in some ways and worse in others, and we need each other to tell the difference. I am my Father's son, it was on the cards from the day I was born, if it had been the other way round, that would have hurt my father far more. And because he worked and fought and endured to provide me with a life worth living, and I owe it to him to do exactly that with it

On a happier note, I love Entenmann's devil's food crumb donuts. One of my favorite desserts from childhood--even better now that I'm an adult. As a kid, I couldn't buy a box and eat them at my own rate--I'd have to petition for the box and hope to get one or two. Now, however, I can buy two boxes and eat them both. I love being a glutton.

anyway i kinda got my camera system to work in my lua standalone game engine. unfortunately none of my matrix "classes" work as expected. especially the 4x4 matrix "class" (its lua so no matter how many object oriented features you add to a table, its still a table) im kinda thinking of ripping them out all together and creating a new matrix class that is more opengl friendly (likely doing all the maths on the modelview stack). 3x3s work ok for being in the wrong row/column order, i just transpose and convert to 4x4 before throwing them at opengl. i may keep my trusty 3x3 functions, as theyve worked well in other projects (the older pure software version of the engine, for example) . even then its simple to change that library over, as 3x3 only need rotation functions. id be happy just doing everything with 3x3 at this point.

well seems the matrix issue was not an issue afterall. got my object class up and running. amazingly the only problem i had was that a function was returning a table entry when it should have been returning an index into that table to get that entry. after i tracked that down i run again and have my terrain model and 2 ship instances to greet me. my framerate was really low, im kinda hoping it was because the driver was tired of opengl crashing so hard and decided to suck to compensate. tomorrow's job on the project is going to be physics. in all likelyhood it will just be a total blatant rip out of my atmospheric flight model i wrote for freespace. it might actually work better in this engine since i have complete control over absolutely everything, and i know the big picture about how it all works.
