On the topic of car collisions, I had a moment of impossible stupidity this morning that makes me think this is going to be a **** week.
On the weekend, some neighbours of ours had an afternoon party on their driveway in our cul-de-sac. My wife and I attended, but when it was nearing time to put our little guy to bed I folded up the lawn chairs and tossed them in the garage in case we were going back over later. Tossed them in the garage, right behind our old beater I use to commute to work. I noticed them there yesterday when I was working in the yard and made a mental note to put them away so I didn't back over them on Monday morning.
I backed into them this morning.
Better yet, because they are light aluminum and shorter than the back window of the car, I pushed them 3 feet backwards with the car (and they oddly did not fall over, despite being wobbly as hell folded up) into the garage door frame and lower sensor, where they wedged and then provided resistance to the car, which I immediately noticed and stopped backing up. I then spent the next 10 minutes bending the garage door track and sensor mount back into place all the while waving at my neighbours who were also leaving for work.
Timely reminder with all the kids in our cul-de-sac for Ryan - sightlines out the back of our beater are terrible, check behind car before backing up.
