Wife, kid, and I are headed to the UK this fall to visit her family. Called Bell Canada to remove the network sim lock on our HTC Desire Z so I can just buy a pay-as-you-go sim in the UK and use our phone with all our info. After 25 minutes, 5 transfers between individuals, one dropped call and redial in the middle, and 3 customer service folks with incomprehensible Quebecois accents, I was informed that I was STILL talking to the wrong department because the last person transferred me to the wrong section, but it would be a $75 charge.
Excuse me? Did I not buy this phone? Have I not been a Bell customer for 8 years? Is the phone itself not an older model?
Fed up with talking to Bell's customer service, paid $15 for an unlock code through cellunlocker.net. Just waiting to see if they can indeed unlock my phone or if a refund gets sent instead.
Will likely NOT be renewing a cell contract with Bell. Seriously contemplating a snotogram to Bell's CEO and customer care.
