Watching the models for Sandy still, this is looking quite impressive.  Transitions from a warm core tropical system to a massive cold-core extratropical system within just 24 hours, getting yanked ashore during the process.  What a fascinating meteorological setup.

Edit: I reached Undead Burg before having to induce an xbox preserving shutdown that stopped me from taking a hammer to it.

Pressure is falling, winds are rising out of the east, and low level clouds are cruising westward.  Something sinister approaches. 
But for now it's actually quite a pleasant day, and the upper level cirrus outflow is making a beautiful ice-halo display around the sun.  Enjoying it while it lasts. :)



Also laughing at all the people panicking and making last minute runs to the grocery stores because they never keep more than a day's worth of food/water/miscellaneous supplies around.  What a lazy society.

Should've gone and tried to skim the pre-hurricane swell rather than watch State hand UNC a win out of pity for the last 5 years.

In other news, just finished Bioshock.  Not sure why it has a 96 metascore.  It wasn't bad, but it was just rather average.

I always have at least 1 day's worth.... so maybe I'm a little lazy. :P But I'm actually not too worried, I've been through worse storms (outside US). Life will go on as usual afterwards. I'm more concerned about how climate change might be leading to all this crazy weather.

Anyway, school cancelled for two days. Hurricane headed straight at us in NJ. Time to sleep 10 hours a day! :D

my computer has been acting wonky ever since that quake. firefox has been hanging intermittently, the whole system likewise. then my bios failed to detect my hard drive and simply refused to boot. so i employed the open the case and wiggle things technique with some success. i figure something wiggled loose somewhere and i need to un wiggle it. im not in a computer fixing mood so il go to bed and **** with it tomorrow. backup wise i ran one a few weeks ago so i shouldn't loose much if it goes tits up.

checking in.  my camera's batteries didn't last very long, and the spares i brought apparently don't hold a charge any more.  got shots and a video at the pier, but missed it at the jetty which was looking way cooler.  i have no idea how they look, i couldn't see the screen when i was taking them.  currently charing some batteries that hopefully last long enough to download the pictures.
