Because it's what I want to do! It's fun and presumably could make me some money someday. Which I guess is necessary to not get kicked out of my parents' house. Dad seems more receptive than mom to $ solutions that don't involve me moving out of the house.

Now that's tough love for you, especially in this economy. Not even entirely sure it makes economic sense (see tip #5 here). Maybe it's just a threat to get you to send out more job applications?

What do you consider to be a good gamedev job, Aardwolf? What kind of jobs are you looking for?

do what kazan did, take programming jobs, any programming jobs. in no time you will be working at ms or whatever. then you will have funds to hire a dev staff and start your own studio.

Made macaroni and cheese with kobi mixed in, it was gooood.  Stomping around going pew pew pew at anything that looks at me funny in my HBK-4P.

 Watched the cinematics of Crysis 3 on YT since I don't have DX11 nor will I for quite some time. I feel like playing Crysis 1 again.

 Also, saw some OpenGL benchmarks, good stuff.

Just started Diaspora (yeah yeah, took me a while, mainly because I was getting into the show) and finished the third season

I disagree with what you guys said earlier about it. I can see where the comments about the Cylon direction being "uh, so what are we doing" came from, but overall they weren't really present in the season. They were a big part at first, and their intentions clear though. Did elaborate how their entire "community" operated a little better

CGI quality didn't really degrade either. Was about the same

As for it slowly descending into meh, it slowed down sure, but I was still enjoying it. Didn't make me bored in the slightest

Now is kind of a bad time for programmers, job market is still in recovery phase, so employers are being more stringent about their need of 18 year olds with 20 years of professional programming experience.

And this was supposed to be a reward for myself for finally taking steps towards eliminating my depression issues! Aargh!

Also, yeah, I am depressed. It's depressing, the amount of work I am no longer able to get done whilst I previously could do it easily. I have had it before, never noticed. The points where I loose control and start beating myself or other stuff up is the worst.

EDIT: Actually, those are not the worst, but they are regular. Which scares me.

Will soon be leaving for the dentist. With any luck my wisdom teeth will be removed without any problems. Yes, I'm not looking forward to the stuff afterwards, but better to get it over and done with, I say.

Just keep the ice packs on as recommended afterwards, and you should do all right.  Bags of frozen peas work surprisingly well for that.

I spent pretty much half a day just sitting down drooling blood after I had all four surgically removed
Couldn't swallow properly worth a damn let alone close my mouth without it being extremely uncomfortable

I don't remember mine being that bad.  I only had two to take out, but I was awake during the entire operation (with local anesthetic of course).  The ice packs were a bit annoying, but they were gone before I knew it and I was eating solid food again the next day.  The most annoying part was keeping the holes clean as they healed, which took weeks.

Ice packs? Holes? Do you guys have the torturer from True Lies from for a dentist? It was more years ago than I will admit, but I distinctly remember getting a couple quick stitches and and a delicious bottle of opiates and being on my way when I had my wisdom teeth removed.

I was put under
Basically, the two bottom teeth were pushing up against the bone at the back of my mouth. Because of that, they had to get real crafty in the removal of them (one in particular as the roots were angled, not a good thing)
Aftermath wasn't painful for me, just uncomfortable as the freezing consisted of pretty much my entire bloody face and the gauze wasn't pleasant in removal (required fresh ones)

The top two were fine. They haven't really come out as far as the bottom ones, and there was no issues with their alignment

Actually actually depressed, or atleast something that looks like it a lot. My doctor has reffered me to a pschyiatrist, and we will see how it goes from there.
