See watsisname's pic. Instead of the phoenix resting on a branch like in the picture, have the bugger rest on one of the landmarks, like maybe the bridge or one of the skyscrapers.

when i lived in juneau it was totally normal to see 30 of them occupying the trees in front of my bedroom window. of course i did live next to a creek that salmon liked to spawn in. the smell was awful but we got lots of eagles.

The meteors showed up, but wasn't overly spectacular.  Had some ~10 minute stretches of 100+ meteor per hour rates with a few bright fireballs, separated by long periods of nothing at all.  Really strange shower behavior.  Must have had several tightly banded streams or something.

well, my plan was to go up on the flight deck at work (3rd shift) but we ended up going home early.  so then i was gonna do like the last one and go lay on the beach.  most of the clouds ended up going away.  BUT, i heard the radio bit wrong and thought it started at 4 am, not ended.  i discovered that error when i went online at 4 to find out where to look.

It did wind up getting clear for me around 2:30 AM or so, and I went outside for 5 or 10 minutes, but I didn't see a single one over that time stretch, so I gave up and went back inside before my neck remained permanently kinked back.
