I've just been out for a walk. And this low-flying jet flew over and scared the **** out of me! It was super loud, but I thought something big like a big truck was coming up behind me at high speed to run me down right there on the pavement. I genuinely had a so this is the end... moment.

Yeesh. It wasn't as bad as that for me, it was low, but it wasn't that low, and it was off to the side flying over the fields. I shudder to think how loud it must have been for you, this ranked up with the loudest things I've ever heard.

We training up north in full troop strength,  irked the RAF earlier in the week. Won a Royal Engineer drinking game called nails. It involves a tree stump, a hammer, nails, and if you can't hit the nail flush in one tap, a forehead.  In retrospect it may have been a bit more than 20 feet.

edit - but definitely less than 40. I could see burning grass afterwards so it might not have been directly overhead.

Not at all, no.  I'm up to about $1k/month.  Goes up about $50 every time I renew.  The cheapest place I looked at when hunting was about $750.  That was because it wasn't in a terribly safe area.  To get something cheap around here you either have to be ok with living in the ghetto or in an insane dump of an apartment/house.

Our house used to be under the approach of the local (now-closed) joint reserve base, so we'd have A-10s and P-3s flying over all the time, along with the occasional more exotic sample.  I really miss the air shows they had.

Our current apartment is under one of the approach paths for Toronto Pearson - not that close, so the planes are generally still quite high up when they pass overhead. That said, the highway leading south from the city runs only a couple blocks from the airport and so trips down the highway often involve pretty low-flying planes overhead.

Music.  Music is the ****.  Music has kept me to only three outbursts since the incident.  Just pre-ordered Seether's new album along with a Dale Stewart signature bass.  July 1st can't get here fast enough.  Unfortunately the bass won't ship until the end of the summer

A full-time job

My free time has very suddenly seemed to evaporate.
