Hey, all I can think of when I hear that is this oldies thing about "I got the walking pneumonia and the boogie-woogie flu".

Apparently "walking" in this case is similar to its use in "walking wounded"; you have a lung/respiratory infection but it is not so severe as to require hospitalization.

Ran the Brackett-Witchtrot-Oak Hill circuit. Seven miles of premo Granite State Murder Hills. Took a swim to cool out then rowed a third of the lake. Now its time to grill wings and drink Leffe Blonde. Later I'll paint Napoleonics or tinker with the Takeo or Amatsukaze.

Worked 9-6. Traffic was so slow that it felt as if I was actually moving backward towards work.

Still 5000 times better than college. So much better. I want to make a ranty, hyper-detailed thread about how much I hated college, but I always burn through most of my hatred in the course of writing the first post.

I still hold by the name of one of the earliest groups I ever joined on Facebook, back in the beginning when it was a college-only site: "Classes are interfering with my college experience."

Unfortunately most of my college experience WAS classes.

It's funny that the little, completely inconsequential things like eating at the dining hall, walking down the sidewalk, or sitting in the library late at night are the things I miss the most. I think it's really about how un-structured my life was then. Other than the 15 or so hours of class a week, I was free to do whatever I wanted, when I wanted.

Now I work 10 hour shifts usually 6 days a week. :/ I don't want to adult.

The more I read that stuff the more I am fueled that my voluntary drop out of college was a good call and it's better to just go working (after I take some intense psychotherapy)

Yup, but I'm a skinny white Londoner, we aren't used to this kind of heat

The thing with London is, because you are walking around in air filled with car exhaust, it just leaves you with a grimy, tacky coating

I work in a shipyard that's currently undergoing massive amounts of construction, on board a nuclear aircraft carrier, next to a trash burning plant, all in the American southeast (where the phrase "it's not the heat, it's the humidity" was born). I think I win at the nasty coating

Says you! I work in food delivery. Yesterday, I was soaking wet from rain, and then while trying to move a 50lb bag of rolled oats, it explodes and got EVERYWHERE. And I was wet so I was basically a walking bowl of oatmeal

i spent the last week in sardinia and having just gotten back to the uk there is no appreciable difference in temperature
