Re: W-H-I-Y-L - Asante Sana Squash Banana.
I had another doctor visit yesterday for my broken leg (I broke my left tibia and fibula into several pieces each on Sep 7).  Xrays show the the bones are healing nicely, and the skin where the bone almost poked through is also healing, so no skin grafts are needed.  But, the doctor also said that eventually the plate will need to come back out, so I have that to look forward to.  While between casts, he had me stand up and put weight on it while leaning forward. Man, that floor felt strange on my skin! But it sure felt good to bend my foot, and he said it looked good. He released me to drive (automatic only, so I can't drive my car yet, but at least I can get around in my wife's van if I need to), and I can return to work Monday.  The people I work with (who had to pick up all my work) are even more excited about that than I am.

But apparently I have forgotten how to walk.  Yesterday the doctor told me I could put 100% weight on the broken leg, or as much as pain will allow. I just needed to wait until evening for the new cast to fully cure. So of course I was expecting to be walking around without crutches or a walker today, at least for a little bit, but I was mistaken. I don't know if it is mental (conditioned to not put weight on the cast, or afraid of falling/putting too much on it and causing more damage) or if there is some physical component (maybe because my calf is wasted away so I can't balance on that leg, or nerves not used to doing anything besides sit there for the last couple of months), but I just absolutely cannot put all my weight on it, even for a second to take a single step. I was using the walker today to practice and to have something to grab if needed, but I didn't need to grab it because I could not make myself completely let go while stepping with my left leg. It wasn't painful; I just cannot let go of the assist, whether the walker or crutches. I tried standing on the bathroom scale, and I am only able to put about half my weight on it before I push up either with my right leg or with my arms, even though it does not hurt much. He did say I will not need physical therapy, but I will need to exercise, so apparently I also need a lot more practice.

Oh well; I will get there. Anyone else have a similar experience? How long before you could take a step without help?

Here are some Xrays from yesterday.  Sorry about the quality; it is from a Facebook post via Instagram, from an iPhone 5. The blue arrow points to a fracture that I did not know about until the dr pointed it out.  I had thought the tibia had just the single obvious break closer to my foot, but there was actually a pretty good sized chunk of bone broken off.  You can clearly see where the fibula shattered and split.  I still get queasy when I think about hearing that snap and seeing the sole of my foot pointing straight to the left while I was still standing up.

Maybe someday God will give you a little pink toaster of your own.

Re: W-H-I-Y-L - Asante Sana Squash Banana.
Sooo, last week-end my parents came by for a small concert near the city where I now live, so we naturally came to see each other, and go on a walk by the sea, starting at a nearby lighthouse. When we got there, we saw a couple of soldiers around the place, which seemed odd as there was no military facility nearby, but about 15 minutes later, we got a good idea as to why they where around as this sucker was leaving the harbour :

Nice shots! What kind of camera did you use?

No idea, my dad's the one who took the pictures. I could ask him though.

Just had to ban a guy from my gaming community for threatening to "kill and eat" one of my members. He's now spent the rest of the day raging on several gaming forums and is "boycotting" anybody who has anything negative to say about it.

Re: W-H-I-Y-L - Asante Sana Squash Banana.
I completed my first re-service cycle in the Armed Forces last week. A cycle lasts between 3 to 40 days and can only happen once per work year. 9 more to go, and my next cycle is in August.

I'm going to reinstall FS2 on this 2-year-old PC tomorrow. It's been...a while. If I don't get murdered playing the first few missions of FreeSpace Blue on Very Easy, I'm happy enough.

The above's putting it simply, since quite a few more things happened to me over the past year. :nervous:

I just watched the South Park episode mocking Inception and the general way overblown rave about it.  I wish I had known this existed back then to cite.

In other news, I just learned that the replacement keypad I need for my microwave costs $175.  The whole damn thing cost about $100 new.  WTF.

So I'm at home just minding my own business today, and suddenly the UPS guy drops off a ****ing broadsword.  Turns out my brother got it just after getting out of Marine Boot.  It's badass.

Nice, any idea where the point of percussion is? (be careful not to cut yourself!) It looks like the balance would make it a slashing type.

Full tang, carbon steel?  If not I wouldn't swing it around, if so make sure you keep the blade oiled up!  Looks nice in any case.

Anyway slowly chipping away at a regiment of Grenadiers à Cheval de la Garde Impériale.  At 1/20 ratio Linge Heavy Cavalry Regiments typically come out to 24 miniatures but the Guard maintained a higher establishment so all told I have to paint up 40 of these guys.

Need dating advice:
Asked a girl out (first time) for dinner, she said yes, but it "wasn't a date". She did blush though. Think she saw it coming.

I really do like her and would like to move things forward but don't want to impose on her. How do I handle this?

If it goes well, at the end ask her to do it again as a date.  Use that phrasing.

I would much rather swing it around knowing it's NOT carbon steel that if it were, unless it was forged by an experienced sword smith.

I was primarily concerned with it being stainless, in which case it has no flex and will very likely snap when it makes contact with a resistant object followed by a foot long piece of razor shrapnel flying around loose.

True, didn't think about stainless as I forgot they would make something that big out of it. I do know that ill tempered carbon steel will do the same.

Insane friend working at Adobe Japan sent me the JP version of Senran Kagura Estival Versus.

She knows I normally hate blatant fanservice... but I'm a dedicated Senran Kagura player after Deep Crimson 2. But hell, she already gave me different copies of Idolmaster, Natsuiro Highschool, and the uncensored version of Criminal Girls. I do know a shmo who's going to be gifted it though. He'll be screaming in pain, lots of it - being a Dynasty Warriors plebe, if it's a brawler he plays regardless of content.

And I shall enjoy his screams.

Muhahahahahahaha, fear the bouncing boobies!
Blame Blue Planet for my Freespace2 addiction.

Today is transgender day of remembrance, which was featured on Desert Bus. It remembers people who were murdered due to trans-prejudice.
