Transcend. Simply creepier. Sync was good, very good, but I liked Transcend even more. My joystick was all wet when I finished that last mission. Cold sweat.

Transcend.

Incomparable atmosphere. Genuinely scary at points in a way that mainstream games like FEAR aren't.

My computer couldn't finish Sync. It crashed a few missions in. So, Transcend. When the Raven pursues you out of insanity, I was freaked out. That last mission, where that damned Transcendent takes all of your wingmen, and then causes hell for you to kill him, really had a sense of epic. But I never understood the point of the VERY last scene, where you're back at the beginning.

Easily Transcend.  The first mission where the Transcendant shows up nearly gave me a heart attack.  Sync had me kinda getting a little bored as I waited for characters to stop talking so we could jump out, but Transcend was AWESOME.

Hint:  dig in your Transcend folder for a movie.  It should be in the data/movies subfolder. Watch it, and then the last misson makes sense.

If you don't have Knossos, you need it.

Ahhh, it all makes sense, now. Since you killed the Transcendent, it goes back in time to where it no longer had any influence, and so the last mission has an alternate ending than the first... I get it.

Transcend... a million times more.

Sync didn't quite make it for me... was like... any other campaign.

You can tell the work that's gone to the entire campaign just playing at it... Sync didn't fell that much elavorated as Transcend.
el hombre vicio...

Sync is good, Transcend, even better. Transcend actually succeeded in FREAKING ME OUT, which in 20 years no game or movie has EVER done.
Even after eight go-throughs of the campaign I still get chills down my spine when I hear the Transcendant breathe or speak.

Seems like I'm the only person here that likes Sync over Transcend.  :nervous:
I prefer the plot of Sync over Transcend not to mention that most of the missions in Transcend is racing from one point to a jump node, although admittedly Transcend actually made me flinch at the recording revealed mission.

I can't compare as I haven't played Sync yet...
...but shouldn't this be in missions and campaigns?

Maybe, but the description of Missions and Campaigns is for releases and works in progress. This is just talking about two campaigns that have been released long ago. :D
In a literate sense. ;7

For me, Sync had at least a little thing to "hold on": the point when you get back to GTVA space when the Shivans come. Transcend has nothing like that - you MUST "fly" with the story.

In what Sync - I'd say - is seriously better than Transcend is the characters. The characters are much more detailed. For me, Transcend - of coure the story made it necessary - was a bit repetitve some times. You see, if capships are engaging each other and we're running for a node, then why do we have to stop and kill a GODDAMN FIGHTER WING? So useless, in my point of view.

I won't say that any of them is bad, I'd gave Sync 9/10, and Transcend 8/10. But, still, this is only my opinion.

But the one thing that Transcend improved from Sync is that Alpha 1 is actually a main character now - which is quite necessary in that sort of plot. Alpha 1 being just "Alpha 1" in Sync is my only true complaint.

I dunno about you guys, but the second last mission of Transcend kinda pissed me off, and almost had me yelling "WHY WON'T YOU DIE! GRRRR! I'LL TEACH YOU TO HAVE INCREASED HITPOINTS!" the mission in subspace that is. Other than that, I finished it in an afternoon waiting for a party and it was pretty interesting.

Transcend definitely. It was genuinely frightening. I remember my little sister walking into the room during one of the messages from the Transcendent and she ran away screaming about monsters. And it actualy got me thinking that the GTF Pegasus was /dangerous/.
