I just wasted 6 minutes of my life that I'll never get back by reading this thread, followed by the other 30 seconds it took to write this message.  I feel seriously cheated.

Stayed up for several hours last night trying to program with inter-process communications... and today I learned, oh, about a half dozen things I did completely wrong.

I gave blood at 8:15 this morning. Twice I had to go lay down because I was too weak to keep sitting at the food table. So after like four hours, I just went the **** home.

Three people better be really ****ing grateful.

Re: Whatever happens in your life II: The Wrath of Khan
I had a crappy day where things figuratively blew up and I got very little work done as a result.

Now I plan to work out and then play some sort of video game that involves large explosions.  Its good therapy.

Re: Whatever happens in your life II: The Wrath of Khan
continued from the other thread i made. whoops.

I am an 8th grader, but i'm in 10th grade math, and getting a B (86.76%). I'm a total history nut, so social studies is an average of 102.33%. I'm in honors English:Vocabulary (for us, english is a 2 part class, covers both reading and vocab), getting a normal A, don't remember the percentage, and I already known all the words. I only get an A because I don't bother to do the study guides for the books. Science is a A- because I accidently botched a couple lab reports, and for some reason all my science teachers are completely ruthless.

Oh, and i started a HLP System Empires group.

Re: Whatever happens in your life II: The Wrath of Khan
My most recent college assignment is "Crime and Punishment." The main character is also starving.

ZOMG I read that this summer!

AWESOME BOOK.

Don't read the epilogue, though. Stop at the end of the last chapter. Maybe, like, go back and read the epilogue a few days later, otherwise it's just anticlimactic.

The epilogue of C+P was highly carthargic for me. I suppose it isn't totally worthless, either; it serves to justify Raskolnikov's confession by setting him up for "regeneration." But yeah, in terms of tone, it sort of ruins the ending. There should be 5-10 blank pages immediately following the ending of the proper work. Or perhaps the last page of Part VI could squirt acid into the reader's eyes as a delaying action.

At the very least, I prefered it to the epilogue in "Father's and Sons," which was completely redundant and boring and made me break out in a cold sweat and choke and fall over.

Stupid 19th-century Russians and their worthless epilogues. Some evil censor was all like, "how can I ruin this masterpiece without angering this author's dangerous followers? Make him write a 'quaint' epilogue, yes."

Re: Whatever happens in your life II: The Wrath of Khan
Well, remember that they were originally written as serials for magazines. That's why each chapter ends as oddly as it does. So the original readers would have had a few weeks to digest before the epilogue.

But yeah, I just adore the mind games Porfiry Petrovich plays with Raskolnikov. He just twists him over and under and around himself with that, and his attitude. That, IMO, is the real Punishment for his crime.

Re: Whatever happens in your life II: The Wrath of Khan
On the first hand in a tournament in Windows Hold 'Em, I was able to knock out Player 2. IT was easy. I knew I had two pair and just went all-in.

EDIT: Hand #4--I knocked out Player 1 and Player 5 at the same time. Because I doubled in the first hand, I was able to force them to go all-in. Both of them. At the same time. And they lost to another two-pair.

And why would you want to delete it? You can't have accumulated THAT much.....can you?
