SW: EP2 Discrepancies
Has anyone noticed how LucasFilm don't care about continuity? I mean, in episdoe two we find the Lars family owning c3po, yet when they buy him in episode 4 they have no memory of him, this is just one of a startling list. Come on, George, give the intelligence of your fans a little credit.

Ehh.. There are quite many protocol droids in SW universe you know, though probably not many as annoying as C3PO :p

The brutal torture and death of his mother might have screwed with his memory over that period. Besides, little Larrs might not have seen C3P0 that much. C3P0 was probably only taken out of the droid shed when big Larrs needed to talk to some traders or pissy moisture farming droids.

Well in "A New Hope" Owen Lars does recognise C-3po as a protocol droid, but as Pera said, there's probably so many protocol droids in the galaxy, that that Owen woulnd't really consider C-3po as the C-3po of his younger years. As for 3po remembering the Lars, I think the safest bet is that his memory was errased, cause he doesen't even remember Obi-Wan Kenobi! However, R2-D2 DOES infact remember everything! :D
I have returned... Again...

I think his memory would have been wiped, anyway, so he couldn't give anything away if he was caught in Ep.4 deliving Obi-Wans message.

I figure they probably nuke the memories every time a droid is sold legit.

You ever think maybe he did recognize it? But I dunno, I haven't seen it yet, but just cause he doesn't yell "That's him!" doesn't mean anything, just me thinking out loud :D

Who's read Rogue Squadron? Maybe Artoo is like Whistler. Everytime Whistler is going to have a memory wipe, he uploads his memory to a computer and then downloads it after the wipe. That's how he develops a personality.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".

I do remembering reading from somewhere that C3P0 did say he worked on moisture farme, and he made that comment someime around/after ANH, I think. If his memory was wiped, that wouldn't have fit, unless he worked on another moisture farmer at another time...
C3P0 not greeting someone else he knew when he say him/her after an amount of time? It seems to me he would not be bursting with 'Oh master Ben, it's so good..." No offense to anyone.
Long time ago, you see, there was this thing called the VBB and... oh, nevermind.

He doesn't get one, but Corran says that he did that back in CorSec when it was required for Whistler to get a memory wipe. Same thing. :D

Ah, but he probably is suspicious. Remember when Luke brings up that the droids have an interesting memory, that they may have been in the rebellion? Owen immediately orders Luke to wipe their memories first thing in the morning. There is also the fact that Artoo claims that Obi-Wan was once his owner...

He wanted their memories wiped so luke would not find out about his father from Obi-wan

But if he remembered a certain 3P0 unit that had accompanied his father. It would have gone pretty bad for Uncle Owen if the words "Anakin Skywalker" had ever left 3P0's, uh, vocalizer.

I'm having serious trouble believing that an entire thread has been created to discuss C3PO....  Either way it's perfectly possibly that 3POs memory was wiped, Uncle Owen didn't mention it and so on....there's loads of reasons why.

Fun ting is that between the EP3 and E4 there's a whole period in which the droids changed owners regularly... Anyone remember the series: 'Droids' ?
It came from outer space! What? Dunno, but it's going back on the next flight!

Another thing that George Lucas added is Artoo Detoo's anti-grav boosters. he didn't have those in Episodes 4 to 6.
