Yeah I have found this community one of the most helpful, When i asked for a single model i was told it would be easiest and best if i did it myself and i was pointed to list of tutorials. In my personal opinion that has been the best advice, as i have started getting models in myself and learned new skill sets, were as if someone had taken on the job, that person may have not finished it or taken a long time to do. So i was trying to say the best option for FlamingMamba would be to download blender as its free and look on the wiki for tutorials, or Youtube. Those are your friends. Most important of all asking on the forums if your stuck in any part from modelling to setting up the pof in PCS2 just ask on here and someone will help you, This is a friendly community.
As others have said once you have the basics of the program down making models becomes pretty simple and getting them into freespace isnt that hard once you followed the tutorials on the hardlight wiki, and done it once. Also when it comes to adding turrets etc in PCS2 look at other peoples models and the stock models, A lot of the information can be copied, with just minor adjustments.
Again i don't want to come across sound cruel and harsh, want to try and inspire you, as i said theres nothing more rewarding than seeing your own work in game, and once you have had a few goes your on your way to creating your own mod. When i started work on my Dalek Invasion mod, i knew nothing at all and i started reading the Freespace wiki and started work myself. You can do it and once started the only limitation is your imagination, it just takes practice.
