All - the album version of Part I is out today. It's free / Name Your Price on Bandcamp and available on most streaming services. The 320kbps .mp3 version of the Bandcamp download is on my MediaFire site as well.

Serious thank yous to everyone that has listened and provided feedback so far. I tried to list everyone on my Bandcamp release page, and sincere apologies if I missed anyone.

(No change to existing downloads, still released under a Creative Commons license, and no YouTube Content ID checking... This is just to share the music to the non-HLP community but shouldn't impact how it is used within.)

Right, unrelated to this download I also snuck in another in-flight to the download list (Shivan Space Superiority). Plus a remix of it.

Starting to get going on this project again. New Briefing and Mainhall (plus 2 variants) added to the main post. Note that the Part I stuff is in yellow and the Part II stuff still be in purple.

Added two more in-flights (Vasudan Assault, Shivan Heavy Bomber), three more briefings (Rakshasa, Fenris, Leviathan) and a mainhall (Sathanas). I have a new virtual instrument that is making the new Shivan tracks in particular more nostalgic...

Quality work, dude, much respect. Atmospheric stuff that reminds me of Freelancer.

That being said, Bringer of Death has a synth line that kicks in around 1:55 and gradually increases in both pitch and volume. It's pretty nice up to about 2:30-2:45, but it keeps reaching into higher registers, and by the time it stops at 3:30, it's doing painful things to my ears and I don't want to hear that sound anymore.
We have returned to continue our purification of this galaxy. It is again your turn to be crushed beneath the great force that is the Antaran army. All your petty squabbling with the other beings in this galaxy is meaningless. The Antaran fleet will destroy you all, one by one. You may not surrender. You cannot win. Your only option is death.

Thank you so much!

I appreciate your comments on Bringer of Death. This one is a bit tricky, because the way you feel about it is actually kind of what I was going for... The difference between annoyingly grating and satisfyingly uncomfortable is a thin one, and subjective at that, so I have to accept that this one is going to split opinions.

That being said, I'm still doing lots of learning so I'll think about other ways to achieve this in the future that might be a little more universal. I appreciate the timing details so that I know where things got out of hand. This type of track is not in my comfort zone, that's for sure! Plus maybe in my age I'm losing sensitivity to high frequencies.

Of course, if it's 80-90% of the way to something you'd like to use for a mod, but won't quite cut it, I'm happy to try and work with you on a revised version. (That goes for any of these tracks.)

In the last couple of weeks I have added 2 more In-Flights, 1 more Briefing, and 1 more Mainhall. There was also a small issue identified in the "Sting of the Fallen" loops - they were slightly too loud which resulted in some popping/crackling at certain parts. I have fixed that in both the full Part 1 set and the individual in-flight set.

Getting close to finalizing the original vision for this project!

Part II is finished and the listenable version has been uploaded to streaming platforms & Bandcamp. I can't believe that I managed to get through the entire original list of tracks, plus a couple of extras, within the space of a few months. It's been a ton of work but a ton of fun to make these; I've learned a lot and received some amazing feedback from this, both within and outside the HLP community. I would love to know when they are being used, and am still game to create modified versions for particular campaigns/mods. And I otherwise plan to stick around as a resource for original music compositions, so ping me here or on the Discord server if you need some tracks.

I plan to do a Part III at some point, which will focus on ships made by the community. But after essentially matching the amount of content from the vanilla FS games, it's probably not a bad idea to take a break from this ;)

The official release for Part II's album version will be on December 1, but I've created a pre-release copy and put it on my MediaFire site here. It will be called Synesthetic Xenotype II: The Lost Generation. The album art comes from an image made by a fellow Freespace fan named Kai Ng, used with his permission. See more of his (non-FS) art on DeviantArt or his studio's official website.

Yup. I was practically jumping up and down when I received permission to use this art. I see that you found the full original on DeviantArt already, but here is a direct link for anyone else that is curious: https://www.deviantart.com/skyrion/art/SJ-Sathanas-759517616
