Us British aren't exactly famous for making tiny cars, Woolie. I'm just commenting that I prefer the tinyness of cars to how sleek/fast/manly it is. And also, just because petrol is cheap in places, doesn't mean you should buy big American gas-guzzlers. Petrol prices are going to keep rising, period.

or we can get around using gas by having McDonalds sell us vegetable oil to use in diesel powered engines (except the only diesel vehicles in the US are trucks)

Biodiesel? Yeah, that stuff rocks It even works with used (over and over and over) veggie oil...

No way would a car be more fun then a fully faired recumbent trike... You can easily cruise at 20mph on the things without breaking a sweat, and to top it off they're very comfortable. Sure, that's a third of the speed limit. Who cares? It takes three times longer than a car to get places, big deal. You're cycling along in total silence, right there with the environment. No pollution. No cost. No tax.
