I don't know, and If you wonder where to find them, they are here (this VP includes the hi-res retail nebulae)

You know, if some people would visit my site more often.

Re: Nebula Effects - The fun is only starting!
I think they should be.  I downloaded and installed FSO SCP, then bought a video card, and cranked up the settings and the first thing that happened was a bunch of people telling me that I was missing this, missing that, etc.  So I installed new beams, new 3d warp effect, new shockwaves, and new backgrounds.  It would really help newbs to include all this stuff in an install, even if the high-res beams and shockwaves are the defaults, the lower ones should still be downloaded when the game is downloaded/isntalled, so people only have to decide to activate them or not.  Presumeably, they could be in some separate/options directory where they could then be copied into the appropriate places.

Oh, I also ended up installing some modified tables, which were also user-suggested, to improve the sharpness/clarity of my explosions.  So basically, the more stuff that could be downloaded automatically, initially, the better, I think.

There's a presumption of completeness when you get done installing a game that's several hundred megs.  I had a lot of fun tracking the stuff down (seriously) but that's because I spend hours and hours a day staring at law books and anything else is high entertainment, plus I just like tinkering with settings and files.  But for a lot of other people -- turnoff.

Those people who turn off are not PC Gamers.

Explenation: When you wan't to go PC-Gaming, you first have to build a computer. that can take a long time, with this part sucking up to much energy, the other part not compatible with the first part at all etc. Then you got to get windows installed, get the drivers working etc....

Console gamers don't need to do this, they just put a dvd in the drive and play.

However, PC Gamers get all the cool toys!

You can get complex with consoles as well... For example, you can install Linux to at least PS2, PS3, XBox and XBox360, and dual boot with the standard factory installed console OS...

Could be cool to try and find out how the XBox or XBox360 Linux box would deal with FreeSpace Open... it could work all right if you could hook up standard USB keyboard, mouse and joystick to the USB plugs in the 360.

Console FS2_Open...
There are three things that last forever: Abort, Retry, Fail - and the greatest of these is Fail.

-Hardly... It is usually quite simple, if you know what you want when you start building the computer.  It takes me maybe a half hour to put a computer together, then maybe another hour or two to get the OS running with most of the programs I use.

*locks thread*

There was absolutely no need to dredge up this topic just to ask that question.

IN THE WRONG FORUM.
Karajorma's Freespace FAQ. It's almost like asking me yourself.
