We should make it as easy to follow as possible, and once IRC is up, host a standalone on normal PXO, the name representing the URL and pointing to the guide.

If you feel the Wiki isn't easy enough to use tell me and I'll update it I get your point about it being a lot of clicking though, I'll try pulling some pages together.  Anyway no real need to port it to the wiki as the majority of that installing FS2_open guide looked might familiar to me

My only other comment is that I think you should tell the newbie how to set up a Multiplayer data folder and to use the -mod switch to get at it. That would save a lot of head scratching later as well as posts about how they can't play normal FS2 missions any more.

and if you want to run a server without playing, -standalone.

You don't need it for multi but it means that in the tech room all campaign missions are shown regardless of if you've completed the game with that pilot.
