That's still not big enough...
You would need a billboard the size of the Gigas to fit the font size...And that still wouldn't be enough.  ;7
No matter the font or size... I'm happy!!!  :D :D :D

Bush (Verb) -- To do stupid things with confidence.

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occurred during the same week.  This is an ironic juxtaposition of events--one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog.

It's a shame the original Derelict developers weren't around to see their campaign in lights.....I"m sure they'd be very proud.

No idea how I forgot this, Freespace 1+2 and HLP were mentioned in December issue of PCGameplay, Flemish Gaming Magazine. Don't have a scanner though :(

Re: Freespace Open gets a mention in PC Gamer (UK)
i was the one they asked for permission from. he emailed me via the  Game Warden "contact admin" form. I havent heard back from him in a while though...

i cant post the letter here (he requested it remain private) but he said he would run another article on freespace after the BSG TC's completion. They want to include it on their demo disk.

god knows he diddnt show me the article before it was published (or i would have corrected its mistakes) but at this point i think we should take all the publicity we can get

Good show.
And I would follow Sandwichs advice... accurate info only

It wouldn't hurt if FS got it's own column or section either ..LOL

I saw the magazine in a shop today, if it were not for its pricetag (£6), I would have bought it.

They wanted to do their own thing, IIRC.

IIRC they prefer having a game which isn't dependant of Freespace 2 like others mods, and use their heavy modification code  :ick:

It's a shame they don't pool resources with the SCP though. Looks like they have functional cloaking working, and they could probably use the optimizations and visual enhancements our team have made.

They don't want advanced graphic. They focused to have Imperial Alliance to run in every systems(like XWA or X wing vs Tie Fighter, in actual config), so the require config isn't exigent like SCP features.

I'm trying to get them to do that now. :)

Apparently the reason they split off in a different direction was so they could do their own stuff without being shackled to the constraints of the existing source.  But they're apparently reconsidering, since it'd be easy to use tables or flags to switch between settings.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Re: Freespace Open gets a mention in PC Gamer (UK)
Nice work Goob.
I wonder if they're aware of our own SW conversion?

I've tried to get MetalDestroyer to ask for permission to use those SW models in a TC but he has thus far not commented. I wonder if we went to those guys ourselves as spokespersons for the community and asked would they allow us to use their stuff?

what people need is a link that leads to a download that installs and sets up to play .  not a link to multiple down-loads and manual set-ups.   want this to grow to a new age make it less complicated for newbs.   just a suggestion. ;)
