Re: Freespace Open gets a mention in PC Gamer (UK)
what people need is a link that leads to a download that installs and sets up to play .  not a link to multiple down-loads and manual set-ups.   want this to grow to a new age make it less complicated for newbs.   just a suggestion. ;)

Absolutely  It'd be really great if we could get a crossplatform installer working, that could ask what you want and download based on that, but atm we're somewhat short on active coders.

It would be worlds easier if the SCP was "finished", and if there weren't massive grey areas surrounding distribution of the game itself.  As of right now, we don't have the manpower to keep a constantly up-to-date drop and go installer that makes use of everything (though in the future, one with "official" releases would not be a horrible idea) so in order to let people actually be able to play the game they have to visit at least some of those manual download and setup pages.  I'm not particularly enamored with the current setup personally, but it's a lot better than the state of the game even a year ago.
who needs a signature? ;)
It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here

Re: Freespace Open gets a mention in PC Gamer (UK)
hmm, never thought my thinking would have replies.  SOORY so long away.

i played FS and FS2 -and i miss those days.

problem is they are making these new crap on big up-graded machine's with max vid card's and  memory suck.

hmm, pardon my french .  original  was better ,  er best .     u die with a red boom
compaired to a red and yellow  boom=  u still dead. why make it a  big  red and yellow boom? that needs more memory to show?

in the old days we mostly had modems and very few high-speeders, high-speed  they spent most of the time hosting games,   every-thing since it started has changed the game.
made it a competition on conection speed- u ruinned the game.

u havn't made it last, u made it impossibe to play.

to much time workin  on the flash and bang and to little on makin it work.

   a ship is
a ship , u fly and die or u kill. simnple math  ,   makin them   more deffinition is a waste of time .

its the mission's and the story that bring people in .   not the ship's and the big bang's.

and if they hafta keep up-grading  video card's and  memory till they max out it is-not -worth-it.

the work and time it takes to down-load and up-grade - u killed the game.

simple would have kept this game alive- u made it  not simple.

Heya Cal ;)
By they way, if you were talking about FSO, you can still run it with the original graphics, just remove all but the original VP files from your install.

I also think the yellowish 3D shockwaves suck... the old bluish 2D ones are better...Who ever heard of a PLANAR shockwave anyway?

He just realised someone replied.
"You shot me in the bollocks, Tim"
"Like I said, no hard feelings"
