I don't know if you guys have noticed it or not, but on Mission 2 of the Freespace Port, where you need to Destroy the 4 Vasudan Attack wings. (i hope you know the mission)

Well, on the Original Freespace 1 mission, the Vasudan Ace that Piloted the Seth Class Fighter was in the mission on ALL difficulties unless that LT that was with you on the mission before was killed, but on this version, it isn't in it at all.

I play all Freespace 2 games on Very Easy since i see little point in playing on a higher difficulty....just thought i would point it out.

I'm a bit mystifed as to what could be causing that if previous versions of the SCP ran. Do you remember what build you used to use? Could could always try downloading it and running it with no mods (so that the media VPs are skipped). If that works it will probably crash out as soon as you get to missions with the Leviathan in (complaining about not being able to find a .pof file) but that can be fixed

Okay, I reinstalled FS2 from my discs, then manually pulled the files and mods I wanted out of the giant .rar and put them in place. And it works. Freakin bizarre. I'll go check if the Leviathan crashes it.


Edit: Leviathan doesn't crash it, but when playing FS2 some ship models only show up when I get somewhat close to them(I'm playing with none of the options on and mediavps as the mod folder). For example, the Belisarius would be a blackish area with a few gray blocks, until I got closer and it'd "pop" into place. I didn't notice this in the Derelict campaign, but I only played for a few minutes. Also, the original Freespace mod still crashes like always.

If you left the data folder in the rar you'll be fine most likely.

In addition, I ran into a problem getting the included FS1 cutscenes to play. The teaser movie played fine, but I only heard audio with the first Ancients cutscene.

Uninstall the DivX toolbar.

How does one go about doing that anyway? Even when I choose to install only the codec, it appears still. There's no uninstall option for it, no "off" switch, no nothing. It won't leave me alone!

Uninstall DivX and install Xvid instead. It handles divx video rather well, from what I've seen.

Did that. No toolbar, but still no videos appearing. I think it might be a build issue since it works fine on D3D and not in OGL. I remember that was supposed to be fixed too, but never was as far as I saw...

The same thing.
Actually, if I use the "cloner" pilot that comes with .rar I can see the barracks but then if I use that the game crashes when I try to exit from the tech room.
Also the game always crashes when I try to load the first mission in the main FS2 campaign.

Hi,

I've d'led the torrent and unrared the files- however every time I hit run from inside the Launcher or try to use the fs2_open.exe i get the following error

The instruction at "0x7c911f52" referenced memory at "0xfffffd". the memory could not be read.
Any ideas ?

If I try the other .exes I can make a pilot but get asked for CD2.

Hi,

I found why I couldn't launch the game it was becuase there was an old audio file in my system register from when i used the on board sound chip. However I cant get past the mission where teh Iceni jumps out becuase the game crashes as soon as the cruiser warps in with the following message:

Can't open model file <cruiser01x.pof>

Any ideas ?

Dude, I don't mean to sound like I'm being harsh, but NOBODY is going to send you a 1.7 GIGABYTE FILE through e-mail.

In fact I think even attempting such a thing would cause a Time-Space rift to open up and kill everyone who's on-line at the time.

Run the launcher and go to the mod tab. Press the select mod button and choose mediavps as your mod. Slap yourself in the forhead for getting that far without any of the special effects actually turned on
