Well that reference was from ANH (You can see due to the grey colouring) while the picture taken there is definitely canon, it's the model used in ESB and ROTJ.  For the ANH skin I can definitely turn it more grey, but I'm happy with where the colour is at on the ESB and ROTJ texture

the ROTJ one is too green I think. the other one is too gold.

Wow. They remind me of the Rogue Leader TIE models. Excellent work.



Edit:  Also, Truespace isn't necessary for modeling, and neither is purchasing the full version.  3.2 is available freely and still capable of making models.  There's also Blender, 3ds Max, Wings3d, Sketchup, Solid Modeling applications, etc...


but you most buy everything for modelling full version

Yeah?  The ANH one is a greyscale image save for a slight bit of yellow on the tips of the lasers =P

You sure it's not your monitor? considering you said the grey one was too gold (grey + yellow) and now the blue one is too green? (blue + yellow = green)

Just seems like you're seeing too much yellow in there.

Check your color temperature on your monitor's settings... make sure it's set pretty high. (9300K?)  Lower settings are too "warm" or yellow.

They look like some Imperial Ace's custom painted TIE fighter, although a Imp Ace would probably use a TIE/In

the imperial ace types (the Imperial 181st, led by Baron Fel) do horizontal red stripes on their wings, not gold.
