I have the same beef with the perfume/cologne adverts. For all the barely hidden boobs and artsy-fartsy-ness, they just don't tell you what it smells like.
I also approve of your foododourent idea, but I think Lady Gaga beat you to it in a manner (what with her meat dress and all).

Recently created an account on LinkedIn. Found someone who I went to high school with. Hadn't heard from her in 5 years.

Evidently, she hit the "I don't know this person" button, and as a result I was henceforth unable to send invites to ANYONE without knowing their email. And without a pro account, you can't message people who aren't in your network.

And of course (although she probably doesn't care, and at this point I don't much care) she probably has no idea that her doing that had any consequences. I wonder, did she really not recognize my name? Or did she recognize my name but think "I don't know him [anymore]"? Or did she recognize my name and think "Where is the block button? Ah, close enough" ?

But whatever. It's over.

In conclusion: I ****ing hate LinkedIn.

i just hit that button on a couple of people i genuinely don't know.  one was clearly only interested in growing his contacts list, the other i have no idea why she added me.  i didn't know what that button did to people though.  i guess i won't press it again.

I made a post on a political forum today.  The regular posters there typically use op-eds from the likes of Fox News and Huffington Post to back up their claims, if they provide any supporting information for their claims at all.  When I used studies from the Government Accountability Office and Congressional Budget Office to back up the claims in my post, I was scolded for not using credible sources.

Not surprising. There's a reason the general public doesn't usually read scholarly articles or government reports. On the other hand, those reasons amount to pretty much squat when you're talking about a forum dedicated to politics.
