3.0.11 is correct. There has never been a 3.4. I recommend getting 3.5; it seems to be faster.

Either you get a faster browser or, as in my case, you get one with lousy usability. I swapped back from 3.5 to 3.0.11 because, somehow, box focus would change in the middle of writing a forums. That plus I hated the "New Tab" button on the tab bar: that is entirely pointless to me, personally, as I'm more of a shortcut typist then a mouse clicker.

I just got back from Anime Expo 2009 in LA.

It was awesome. Especially the Rebuild of Evangelion movie. And the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movie... and, well, so much else.

I don't watch anime but I am kind of sickly fascinated by Eva. Should I try to watch the Rebuild movies?

From what I've seen (meaning Rebuild 1.0), they seem to be better than the series.

The Rebuild movie did away with a lot of comedy, so overall the tone is darker and more serious, which is good, because I felt that the more comedic feel of the opening episodes clashed with the later despair and psychological problems the series is infamous for. The music is also a lot better than the original.

Also, Ramiel (the giant octahedral Angel) is much more awesome now.

In conclusion, I think it did a better job of telling the story than the series did.
Then again, this is only the first movie of four, so time will tell if the rest are up to that standard. At least they promised to re-do the ending... maybe it will actually make sense this time.

The second movie is only just premiering in Japan, so I don't know too much about it, except that they've changed the story quite a bit, so, no matter what, it'll be interesting.

Rebuild 1.0 comes out on DVD in the fall, if you're wondering.

I personally recommend not touching Eva at all, because as wonderfully deconstructionary as the series is, it is unable to harness the power of it to create something entertaining, and many of the characters will provoke horrible rage as they behave in such a way that you are totally incapable of relating to them.

Conversely, I really enjoyed both the show and Rebuild 1.0. (End of Evangelion, not so much).

I don't think the show is really 'deep' or anything like that, but there's some good action and fun twists, and the whole thing is just dark enough for my liking. Rebuild just distills and polishes that to the point of being excellent.
