I built a computer and rebuilt it a few times. In the past 2 years, here's the notable work (including upgrades).
#1 (main PC originally): E2140 @ 3.2GHz, 1x2GB DDR2 800, HD3850, 320GB drive, Thermaltake 500W
#2 (more RAM, swapped gfx, new drive): E2140 @ 3.2GHz, 3x2GB DDR2 800, 8800GT, 320GB + 1000GB drives, Corsair 750TX
#3 (swapped gfx): E2140 @ 3.2GHz, 3x2GB DDR2 800, HD3850, 320GB + 1000GB drives, Corsair 750TX
#4 (upgraded from Athlon 64 3500+ and swapped in gfx): Athlon 64 X2 4200+, 2x1GB DDR2 800, 8800GT, 160GB drive, Antec 400W
#5 (new PC for friend): Phenom II X4 940 BE, 4x2GB DDR2 1066, HD4870, 1000GB drive, Corsair 650TXD
#6 (<$160 to build new machine from scrap): Athlon 64 3500+, 2x1GB DDR2 800, 80GB drive, OCZ 500W
#7 (new drive, swapped RAM): E2140 @ 3.2GHz, 2x2GB + 2x1GB DDR2 800, HD3850, 320GB + 320GB + 1000GB drives, Corsair 750TX
#8 (swapped RAM): Athlon 64 3500+, 1x2GB DDR2 800, 80GB drive, OCZ 500W
Obviously my main box has gone a long way. 2GB RAM to 6GB, swapped graphics cards a few times, went from a single 320GB drive to a pair of 320's and a 1TB drive. This new PC is going to go to my step-dad for a bit; I may as well take over his P4 + 512MB DDR2 + X300 box after swapping out some parts. He'll get the the Athlon 64 with 2GB DDR2 I suppose. I ought to see what I can do about my sister's PC, in the way of an upgrade. I suppose I could swap in this new 780G+SB700 motherboard, but I don't think I should. I finally got her darned system running properly (I didn't build originally, I rebuilt it) with the X2 4200+. She had that terrible GeForce 6150SE (or some BS like that) chipset on her motherboard. We were lucky we got the late-version PCCHIPS A13G+ V3 (IIRC) because it was at least usable with a mid-to-high-end graphics card. I wouldn't but a HD4890 or GTX275 in there, but it's plenty for an 88GT. I want a new graphics card for my system, though. I am really tempted to buy the same X4_940+790GX combo for $205 or something now, but I don't know. I ought to have asked for that instead of the $160 for a few more parts...

the only one of which I actually NEEDED was the motherboard ($65 open-box).
And no, but cranky admins who care about non-offensive spam in a non-post-counted section do.
