I decided, for reasons that I don't even know, to take a joyride of sorts around the north-eastern part of Singapore. These are the different forms of transport I took throughout the day, and where I went to:
1. Took a bus from the bus-stop outside my house to the nearest train station, somewhere in the east;
2. took a train to the central part of Singapore;
3. switched to another train heading towards the northern part of Singapore;
4. got off the train about halfway up north to explore a shopping centre;
5. switched to another train heading for the north-eastern part of Singapore;
6. switched to another train heading further north-east of Singapore;
7. got off the train at the terminus and switched to a light rail system;
8. got off the light rail system once it came full circle and switched to a bus heading for the extreme east of Singapore;
9. got off the bus halfway through to have dinner at a shopping centre;
10. boarded a train at the train station outside the shopping centre after buying dishwashing liquid for the house;
11. got off the train one train station after the train station nearest to my house; and
12. walked home.
While on the bus between 8 and 9, I passed the housing estate where I used to live, when I was between age 5 to 17, and I've come to the conclusion that, while I can still remember lots of things that happened there within those 12 twelve years, I do not relish or miss them. In the same way that I no longer feel a sense of belonging to my secondary school, I no longer feel a sense of belonging to that place.
I also bumped into my scriptwriting lecturer while I was in the shopping centre halfway up north, and bought a pair of earplugs when I was in the shopping centre at the east.
The time I spent on all of the above was an entire afternoon. Excluding transport fees, I spent about $55.
