sorry this one has me riled bigtime.

Just had a call from a guy with diabolically broken english trying to tell me that I had been on the internet and now errors were showing on my computer................

So I interrupt him and say there are no errors on my computer and put the phone down thinking that was that.

THE DUMB **** REDIALED ME!!!!!!!!

Strangely enough as soon as I mentioned that my profession is IT support the line went dead.

Seriously I thought that phone scam had passed.

If I ever get another scam call with a live person on the other end - I haven't had one in years - I am handing the phone to my 3-year old and walking away.

Good idea. I'll pay my four-year-old cousin five bucks an hour to sit on my couch watching cartoons and ticking off the scammers/telemarketors/political callers.

I would pay a lot to have someone come up with a bot to answer scambait phone calls. Like a Siri I could switch the phone over to.
"... Oh, hello, my name is (unpronounceable) with Wesayso Corporation. We are collecting information from the local area. We would like to give you a quick surve-"
"Oh, hold on, let me get the lady of the house."
"...Yes. That's very interesting. How would you define 'good' in this context?"
"... Well, that depends. What do you mean by 'negative?'"
"... Well, that depends. What do you mean by 'passive-aggressive?'
Of course then we'll eventually just have bots calling bots, and it'll be a cold botwar completely with a bot arms race. That could be fun too.

"I'M BATMAN"
or "GOOD EVENING GADGET" (in the full on Dr. Claw voice which I can totally nail)

Then there was another occasion that I went on a long process of screwing with him by using everything I could remember from my Windows 98

"Yeah hold on my computer is still booting up"
"Okay so can you click My Computer"
"Na man, it's still booting up"
"Now?"
"Nope, desktop still hasn't completely loaded"

Send each line to Google voice recognition API, hand off recognized text to Cleverbot API, use some sort of FOSS speech synthesis (can't think of any off the top of my head) to state reply. Can use Asterisk PBX to switch calls between bot and human.

Yeah, there are actually several Texans on this board. I admit to my own bias, but by and large, we're not idiots.

Unfortunately, Ted Cruz' demographic is. I know that old saying, "Don't attribute to malice what can be more easily explained by ignorance." But ...I don't think that man is half as ignorant as he acts. I think he's just ruthlessly exploiting the ignorance of the people he claims to represent. I wish to God these people would wake up and see that they are propping up a regime of parasites.

It's just that, when I first heard about George Bush being from Texas, I later on checked when a politician said silly hyper-conservative things, they all turned out to be from Texas. Which is weird.

I'm likely more conservative than many of the people posting here, but this guy goes WAY too far. The entire Tea Party movement has turned me off, and I find myself agreeing with more so-called "liberal" ideas, just because they are closer to the mainstream.

With myself also being from Texas, I honestly have no clue where they find these people for the presidential candidates. I'm beginning to think they draw straws every 4 years and then hit the booze for the remaining 3 years.
